P90x- how to add these workouts

Post by amcoppolino »

I apologize, if someone has asked/had this question answered, but when I typed it in the search bar, nothing came up with regards to this.

I am doing p90x and found a website with roughly the amount of calories you burn doing each workout, and was wondering if there is any way to add these workouts to tracker for exercise. I know I could maybe add them individually but what I was looking to hopefully do is just have to click on the workout that I did that day and have it register those number of calories that I burnt.

It would be a little like the customize your workouts page, but only I would be able to put the calories down with it.

Thanks,
Andrea

That does sound like a reasonable request and hopefully there is a good way to track it although sense is that anyone who is doing P90x doesn't need a spreadsheet to help them see that they are making serious progress and achieving really good results. Judging from the infomercial, it looks like a fantastic program and that it really works. But then again, what doesn't look good on an infomercial? (maybe I can find a way to curl George Foreman Grill and towel off with ShamWow after!)

Anyway, if you or any of the other folks out there who have committed to P90x, Crossfit or any other programs that can motivate a good at home workout, have recommendations or success stories to share, I'd love to hear about them. wife and I both want to take the plunge into one of these super aggressive plans but trying to get some assurances before we do.

Thanks all, Drew

I did the P90X last year for 2 months before pulling a groin real good and basically had to take nearly a month off from doing much. It is a great workout. I still do some of the dvd's here and there but core workout now mixes more weights than the P90X but I still try to keep about the same pace for about 40 minutes. But like with any of these programs - diet is the big key.

I actually had a baby in Nov 2008, and by June 2009. Was 134 when I got pregnant, gained 25 in pregnancy, was down to 127 by June 2009. I looked absolutely fantastic because I committed to p90x. With young children, it is very challenging and difficult to find the time to commit to the workouts, but it is GREAT to have a buddy system. I have other friends that have done the program, and love it so much that they were inspired to open their own fitness studio. I would highly recommend this program. It brings real results with the variation in workouts. As for the arms and upper body DVDS, I never did more than 10 lb weights so I avoided a lot of that stuff- I wanted to get lean and not bulk up though, so I wasn't attempting to gain muscle mass, just tone up.

Even after the 90 days were done, I still did the Ab ripper dvd 3x a week with cardio at the gym and sometimes threw in a random p90x dvd. I slacked off working out hard around November 2009, and didn't gain any weight back until April 2010- I'm now down to 132 and have lost 3 from a change in diet and workout in just the last week and a half. It does really bring immediate results!! And keeps you in great shape. For me, I was just a little flabby trying to lose 5-10 lbs and it worked WONDERS for me. I would assume that it could do the same for anyone that followed the diet and workouts as well!

One tip if you do it: ease into it slowly, before actually STARTING the 90 days, I actually did just the cardio video 3x a week for a week or two just to get body use to the things I would be doing.

Let me know if you have any additional questions and good luck if you decide to try it! :)

Thanks Amcop, that is really good first hand experience info. Easing into it slowly with just the cardio portion is a great idea.

Tyler, so many various punchlines to that first line you wrote. You really teed that up for me. I'm going to let maturity rule here but can't promise that will always be the case in the future. ;)

So that this conversation doesn't stray too far away from the original post, and so that I don't derail the opportunity for her to get feedback to her question, I'm going to re-state it here. Amcop's original question (prior to smartass commentary from the likes of yours truly) was:

"I am doing p90x and found a website with roughly the amount of calories you burn doing each workout, and was wondering if there is any way to add these workouts to tracker for exercise.
