Feedback on food please

Post by kaneda »

Hi all,

Think I posted this in the wrong forum before. Anyway, I would love to get some feedback on the food I eat. I've lost almost 55pounds since last July and I'm far more into nutrition now and want to ensure that I'm eating the best both for weight loss and the long term.

So an example of the typical food I eat mid-week.
Breakfast:
Either
2 scrabled egg whites on 2 slices of thin slice whole meal bread
or
Porriage

Mid-morning snack
Banana

Lunch:
Wholemeal Pitta, 7 cherry tomatoes, Half a carrot, Cucumber, Tablespoon of humous
Or
Prawn sandwich

Mid-afternoon snack
Either
A packet of less than 100 calories crisps (I'm trying to break this habit!)
or
2 clementines

Dinner:
Lots of veg and either fish of some kind (e.g.cod, trout, prawns etc) and possibly some couscous.

Evening snack
2 weight watchers biscuits (again, trying to break this habit!).

I drink about 2 - 3 litres of water a day.

Exercise wise: I try to do cardio 3 times a week (body jam, the gym or an exercise dvd) and I've recently started using dumbbells and kettlebells for strength training.

Is this okay? Thanks

Hi there,

First of all GREAT JOB ON THE WEIGHT LOSS! You should be very proud of yourself!!!

I would make a few basic changes to your plan. What about something like this:

So an example of the typical food I eat mid-week.
Breakfast:
Either
2 scrambled whole eggs on 2 slices of thin slice whole meal bread
or
Porriage with 2 scrambled eggs

Mid-morning snack
Banana, 2 low fat cheese sticks

Lunch:
Wholemeal Pitta, 7 cherry tomatoes, Half a carrot, Cucumber, Tablespoon of humous, 3-4 ounces chicken
Or
Prawn sandwich

Mid-afternoon snack
Either
veggies, 3-4 ounces lean protein, 11 almonds

Dinner:
Lots of veg and either fish of some kind (e.g.cod, trout, prawns etc) and possibly some whole grain couscous.

Evening snack
1/2-1 cup greek yogurt, 1 tbsn nut butter, stevia (stevia is optional, i like to add it because it sweetens the yogurt up a bit)

I drink about 2 - 3 litres of water a day.

Great job on adding the strength training. I would do that 3 times per week.
