Great quotes, I will definitely be borrowing those

You won't fail again in that way, because you know what you did wrong, so I can't see a problem with your doing those kind of races again.

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
Thank you Boss Man. It means everything to have someone believe in me, even if they are across an ocean!
The support I get here has such a great impact on motivation and will power. family just doesn't understand the whole world of a fitness driven lifestyle - they don't understand what drives me to workout and continue to run - even when I had a bad experience. husband is a "fixer" and sees things very black and white. Bad race = don't race again. period. simple. problem solved. But it isn't that simple for me. In fact, I plan to run that same race again - and do it right. I have to prove to myself that I can do it - I have to "" it, way. He will tell me not to, but in the end he will support me, and be there at the finish line for me...he really doesn't have a choice...he knows me too well, knows how stubborn I am.

Put it this way. You're not stupid or naive. You know what you're capable of, so you're not likely to overdo it.
You have done these sorts of things many times, so you know your own limits, or possible levels of improvement. It's not like you have somne kind of physical disablement, that will prevent you from achieving something to a certain standard. Age may be a slight factor in ability at this point in your life, but the main factor in your own achievement is what you believe you are capable of.
Belief is a key part of success and if you have it in spades, you're more than half way to that line before you even start.

Hey, this is 100th page of journal! I think that is a Shapefit record! I love journal and all who visit here. Some days it is just about discussing what we are eating, not eating, some days its about discussing injuries, some days - just being silly and having fun talking about "the old days". But through it all, it is still about the journey...the work in progress. It may take 200 pages, but I will get there. In the mean time, please feel free to step in, visit a while, join in the conversations.
Sometimes I think of journal as a sort of "back porch" in "neighborhood", where friends stop in to visit, say hi, catch up on what is going on, exchange ideas, offer advice, sympathize, give "a hug", a pat on the back, & hang out for a while. And I wouldn't have it any other way.
By the way, that's little dog Maisy standing in for me in profile pic. She is a sweetheart. We rescued her from the animal shelter about 6 years ago.

Congrats Lynne - 100 pages is amazing!! You are right - it's like old fashioned living - where neighbors walk by while you are on your porch (no doubt doing squats, or leg extensions, not sitting~!
) and share the daily activities in each others lives. I feel the same way
You have a great journal overflowing with dialog that mean so much to everyone who reads them...you have shared so much with others, have been so motivational and caring (and a great sense of humor!).....I'll be here for the next 100 pages! Thank you!
You really should write a book

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
I love it! There are 4 pics of dogs on page today!!
) Maisy is such a lap dog, whenever I come outside she follows me, waiting for me to either pick her up, or sit down and she will immediately claim lap for her own. Her sister, Daisy (the larger of the two and more blond in color) is more of the patrol dog, she likes to be petted, but is always trotting the fence line - making sure we are all safe from any varmints...she kills rats, squirrels, birds if they are too slow and make the mistake of getting in the yard - that's her territory - she usually brings them to the back door and leaves them - ugh! But I always praise her, she is just trying to feed her pack.

As far as I can tell, she is a Scottish Terrier mix. We have her sister too, both of them were the last two of the litter at the animal shelter and I walked in and saw them I knew they were meant for our family. They are outside backyard dogs, but live a very good life. We have a covered back porch and they each have their own chairs and dog houses (complete with heating pads in wintermusculargirl wrote:Cute dog! What kind is she?

Thanks Joc. I took camera with me one morning when I went for an early a.m. beach run. Set camera on self timer and set it on a piece of driftwood and literally plopped down in time for it to go off, totally unplanned and wasn't even sure if I got in the shot! Well, when I saw the picture I just loved it. It was taken a few years ago when we were on vacation, but it inspires me to keep going - and it reminds me of that beautiful morning I witnessed being "born".

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty

Giving legs a day of rest - they are tired from 2 days of hard treadmill running. I am going to do an upper body and abs workout in the pool today:
something like these:
http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/videos/m ... splash.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(sorry for the dumb commercial at the beginning - I hate that!)
I did them all except for the Ball Lever - that hurts elbow injury

anyway, these are great for a challenging workout that doesn't kill your joints.
Have a great day everyone!!
