after fight weight training

Post by PandorasVise »

How long should I let body recover from fighting until I weight train again? I am bruised up pretty good (all over), and biceps are seriously sore but over all I am okay. Today I am supposed to start month 2 of p90x, but I want to make sure I have adequate recovery time to heal up.

If you're not sure give it another 2-3 days at least, potentially a week.

As a muay thai competitor, post fight I always gave myself a week to recover. I did this based on how much weight I cut and also based on the time between fights. I would recommend going at 65-70% the first week back.

I went to fight class last night and did sparring. The other guys are alot more hurt than I am so I sparred as normal with the non fighters. When I got home, I crashed into bed and fell to sleep so fast. I think I am going to take a week off. I hate resting :x

Presumably the non-fighters were fighters taking a day or two off, not just some poor saps off the street, used as cannon fodder and bribed to participate

LOL The 'non-fighter' i meant weren't competitors. There are only a few of us that actually fight in tournaments. Maybe 8 fighters total. The other 15 -20 people in the dojo spar but don't fight, non-fighters. We have special 'full contact' training for the fighters after regular classes and sparr against each other 3 times a week. That sparring gets pretty rough near fight time.

Fighting season is over fr now. We will start training hard in August for the fall fights. Right now we are working on technique. Nice easy technique training, i love it!!
