Sometimes I wonder about myself...
While I was running this evening I had these thoughts...

As God is witness - there will come a day when I can point at something in the sky and not worry about giving someone a black eye with bat wings!!!

There will come a day when I can bend over and tie shoe without getting a cramp in abs from all fat squishing together!!!

There will come a day when I can run and not feel the need to "shake leg out" or sneak a quick tug to pull shorts leg back down (ladies you know what I'm talking about!)

There will come a day when I won't worry about getting a rash between thighs from them rubbing together while running - because I'm too vain or too embarrassed to do the above mentioned technique!

And finally...there will come a day when I can pull on a pair of tight jeans and a cute top and not feel the need to dissect every inch of image in a mirror to see if it "makes me look fat", then change tops at least 3 times...and finally just throwing on a pair of baggy jeans and a big t-shirt to hide behind! 8) (as if THAT makes me look thinner!)

yes! there will come a day.....

Todays workout:

4.5 mile run - treadmill
timed 3 miles @ 28:28
then easy 1.5 mile with a few speed pickups
total run time: 47:21

1x30 sec. stability ball plank
1x45 sec. " " "

When you mentioned that rash, I was half expecting you to write, "there will come a day when I can finally throw that tube of Lanocaine away"

You will have those days very soon. Your effort and dedication deserve physical rewards. Honest graft for honest results. Keep going and good luck.

Lynn I just arrived at " those days " & they are fabulous, you too can have them & I'm sure you will :) If it wasn't for the lack of collagen in skin. Id be absolutely carefree, still I hide behind gym bag etc in public, when I'm sitting.Keep up the great work !

thanks guys...I just decided to have a bit of fun with describing daily struggles...they aren't all actually that bad...I really don't give anyone black eyes with bat wings, LOL! they aren't quite that bad. It's funny, I remember when i was a little girl in grandma's kitchen, she was a big boned German woman who laughed alot and seemed like she was always in the kitchen cooking, she was always ready to give a big hug and I remember staring at her "bat wings" - they were really something! But, she made the best biscuits & gravy and fried chicken EVER.
I'll be honest with you guys...I have struggled over the last few days mentally because I saw some race photos of myself at a race ran recently and I was shocked, really, they were NOT flattering at all, and it has been messing with head. I thought I was making progress, but then I see those pics and feel like I haven't made an inch of progress. It's like the photographer captured me in the most unflattering ways possible - like she had the "fat" filter on. So, I am battling a slight depression and trying not to let it get a hold of me and screw up workouts and diet. I know I'm making progress, I know I have lost weight and inches...but it seems a bit daunting because I have a long way to go to get where I want to be, and it seems like I'll never get there, it's so hard....ugh. baby steps....baby steps, I know. :P
anyway, not trying to have a pity party or anything, just keeping it real. :D

Thanks for keeping it real Lynne. Sometimes when I'm not doing good I talk about everything BUT weightloss on here. :) At least your admitting your struggles. I have a hard time doing that sometimes. :)

I can definitely understand how you feel about the pictures. But I would try and forget about the pictures. You have real results with inches and weight lost. that's all that matters. anyone can take some bad pictures. Are you taking progress pictures? that may help you to see progress. :)

I just want to add Lynne you are a great motivator and a very kind welcoming person to everyone on this site. So be kind to yourself and let the pictures go and just concentrate on all the great qualities you do have and the success you have had already and will have in the future. :)

Thanks Rebekah. You are right of course...I just need to block those images out of head and concentrate on the positives....I know I have a bit of extra weight on me, but overall I am fit, strong, and healthy. I raced son down the driveway today, he won but I made him work for it! LOL! He said "man, you were hard!" hahaha! Better watch out for old mom!
One positive note: The first place finisher in the women's 400M race at the Texas State Senior Games was 1:41:18. I ran a 1:31 on last speed workout. Now, I have to take into consideration run was on a treadmill, so I had some assistance from the forward propulsion of the belt...but still! Only two years til I qualify to run - and then I fully intend to take that title.

I can only add, you are a BIG inspiration to everyone here! We're our own worst critics, don't let it get to you.

I have no doubt in mind you will take that title :D You have a vision and it will pay off!

As for the photos - as difficult as it is, ignore them! I am probably the most un-photogenic person on this Earth so I know how it feels! I could look in the mirror and think "Oh, you're looking HOT" and then have a photo taken 2 seconds later and I look horrendous, double chin shows, every bit of fat shows, hair is a disaster - Nothing like what I see in the mirror It is hard to ignore the photos, but I try hardest to remember the camera adds pounds. You have come so far and deserve to be proud of what you have accomplished. And if it helps, I think you're lookin' pretty damn good :D So remember how far you have come, and don't sweat the pictures...

Oh, boy, does it ever! We had a family picture taken last week at sunset on the beach. I was standing in the back and as soon as I saw the photographer crouch down to his knees I knew it was over! Second worse picture of me ever - the worst was our last family picture.
