Day 296

Breakfast protein shake with milk, bowl of bran flakes.

Feel fatter today and actually weighed over 11stone when weighing myself.

May just be bloated, i hope, anyway going to aim for a fullbody workout today.

Pear, wholemeal slice of bread x2 and a can of tuna.

Workout

Bench press 4 sets reps 6-10
Bent over barbell rows 3 sets reps 6-8
Deadlifts 3 sets reps 10
3 Sets pull ups reps 6
Military press 3 sets reps 5-7
French press (not sure if i did this properly, couple sets)
Dumbbell curls
Single dumbbell rows
Dumbbell shrugs
Did a set of dumbbell squats then couldn't get weight back on shoulders and caught hip on the way down, so did enough? Stopped there.

4 egg whites and a wholemeal snack roll.

8) 8) Hopefully me feeling and looking fatter (yes around the gut) is just being bloated since i had alot of salty foods yesterday, as you can usually see a faint 6 pack on me normally

Protein shake, some peanuts.

Hadock, wholemeal snack roll.

Can of chilli con carne, 362 cals, 47g carb, 17g sugar, 26.3g protein.

Day 297

Breakfast protein shake and wheatabix. both with semi skimmed milk.

30mins cardio cycling.

Apple, can of beans and a wholemeal roll.

Another wholemeal snack roll, 100 cal, hope i haven't put on weight (fat), as you can see nutrition has been good?

Wholemeal roll, 3 eggs, with a bit of milk, made scrambled eggs, only thing about this is im getting the fat with it, not alot of protein foods left, prob going to have to have a protein shake in a while.

Dinner, they had pizza, so ive had no dinner, and am starving, there's no damn food in the house and if i eat pizza it's no freekin good, so annoying.

meals suck because im eating things high in protein, wholemeal and all which is what i need but im not having proper meals which is probably why im getting hungry alot. Plus right now i don't have alot of options, what am i ment to do live off of protein powder lol? Just makes me fart alot.

Protein shake, wholemeal roll.

Peanuts and wholemeal roll.

Day 298

Just got in and weighed myself, i'm still a few pounds over 11stone, so it looks as if ive put on weight? I feel fatter, well and look it to me around the gut, as you used to be able to see a 6 pack, you still can, but less. Maybe im being paranoid, but to me it feels and looks as if has got fatter, of course no where else would of got fatter...

Breakfast protein shake with semi skimmed milk, and wheatabix with semi skimmed milk.

Break, 2 wholemeal rolls with 2 eggs.

Lunch, jacket potato with tuna.

Workout - Chest + triceps

Barbell Bench press 50kg - 3 sets reps 8-10
Dumbbell flys, 16kg each dumbbell, 3 sets 8 reps.
Push ups, 3 sets reps 10-14
Chair dips, 3 sets reps 4.
French press (not sure good form?) 3 sets reps 6-7
Went to do dumbbell kickbacks but always unsure about the form on these, so left them out.

Protein shake with semi skimmed milk after.

So what is it you're trying to do, burn fat or gain muscle?

Hi Martin,

Meals are looking good.

As for you feeling "fatter" most people do tend to put on a little weight when bulking. Typically to put on muscle you need to be at maintenance or eating a few more calories than youre burning and many people tend to put in a little bit of fat as a result. You feeling fatter could also simply be water weight too.

I hope so, would be pretty annoyed if i put on the fat around , after trying so hard to lose it, hopefully it'll go down in a few days, i also notice i keep picking at protein powder, however weird that sounds, it's true, probably because i want to insure im getting enough protein but i really shouldn't, makes it sound bad.

Waiting for beef and prawns to defrost.

I'm confused about what this means... "I want to insure im getting enough protein but I really shouldn't"?

Sorry, i ment i really shouldn't keep picking at protein powder, can't be healthy.

Anyways, had prawns, some pieces of beef slices and a wholemeal roll, also ate a piece of quiche that was left over from dinner (small) and homemade so wern't terribly bad, (ham, tomatoes, cheese) didn't eat crust at end, i kept picking at it so i may aswell just ate the slice it wasn't exactly huge anyways, so i did.

I wouldn't worry about any extra gains as you are skinny already, just lose it after you've put on some muscle. I've noticed I'm putting on a little extra around stomach because I'm eating quite a bit of food to fuel workouts and (hopefully) muscle growth. The way I understand it is you can't have your cake and eat it too. Focus on one thing then the other.

Yeah but when i weigh myself i weigh more, and i don't see how as ive been eating probably around TDEE, not over it and eating takeaways and stuff.

There must be a way i can bulk up, get bigger and stronger without getting a fatter gut.

Day 299

Gosh, getting tired of waking up feeling fatter, more bloated etc, it seems i have put on weight as again im a few lbs over what weight has been for the past year, and of course, it seem's its been added to the area i least wanted it to.

I don't feel ive got stronger or bigger at all, just fatter, and i hope it's just bloated or whatever but i can't see it, as it's a few days now. I worked so hard just to get to where i was (feint visible sixpack) and now it's just doughy.

It may seem like im complaining but believe me im not, just saying what's on mind, really want to get stronger, and a bit bigger, but of course doing it the best way i can and not increasing the fat. I don't know why i feel ive got fatter, probably for the last 2 or 3 days ive been going on the scales im a few lbs over what weight was. And that i can't see 6 pack, i am hoping it's just bloated or as you said Cassie water weight. However i've got a feeling it isn't, but i don't see how when nutrition has been good, it may seem im making a big deal, but i want to keep figure, and i can't if i feel and look fatter and bloated all the time. It's put me off wanting to get bigger.

But i do, so going to workout back and biceps today, what can i do to really make sure im pushing myself to the limit, i feel if i was at a gym i would, due to the room, and constant machines etc.

8 Am, protein shake with semi skimmed milk, 3 wheatabix with semi skimmed milk.

11am, apple.

12pm, bannana, put on 4 eggs to boil, going to have egg whites before i do weights.

Workout.

3 sets of pull ups, reps 7-8
3 sets of barbell rows, (50kg) 3 sets reps 6-7
3 sets of dumbbell rows, reps 8-10 (per arm)

14KG hammer curls, 3 sets reps 6 each arm.
16kg dumbbell forced negative reps, 3 sets reps 6-7
then went to do "21's" with barbell, but for some reason couldn't do more than 13, so 2 sets reps 11-13. I did it last week though, so it's not that i was using too much weight.

Protein shake after.

By the way, i noticed this yesterday too, after working out lips were a bit sore and i had to put vaseline on them?

Also, i hope this "extra fat" which i feel i have goes down soon, as otherwise im going to have to try hard again to burn it off, seeing as i dunno how ive put it on in the first place, i probably am overreacting knowing me, but im very cautious of it, not a bad thing i suppose, but yeah, i like to keep track of myself. Feel i should do cardio (go on bike) as im concerned about the fat, but just done weights, so prob best to leave it til tomorow plus im going out for a meal.

Just got few things from shopping, had a wholemeal roll (167 calorie), some natural yougurt (100g = 48cal, 5.6g protein 6g carb of sugar) and pot is 500g sugars should be ok as there natural and not added?

Bit of cottage cheese and ham too.

I feel i dont want to eat anymore though, after not being able to see the feint 6 pack i had.

Meals look good. The yogurt you bought has 500 grams of sugar? That can't be right... unless i'm totally missing something?

I've been away from the forums for a while.... Why are you feeling so fat lately? Did you decrease cardio or increase calories in an effort to build muscle?

Erm, i haven't done as much cardio as late, as i was trying to bulk up, you advised me to do 4 weight sessions a week? But going to do cardio tomorow, im not doing it as much as i feel i don't need to lose weight, but im not sure now after feeling + looking fatter around the gut.

As for the yougurt i worded it wrong, the pot is 500g, not of sugar lol.

Dinner - wholemeal roll, bits of chicken breast, and a bit of peanut butter, small bit of yougurt too.

Ohhhh...

Yeah Martin to truly put on muscle you may have to gain a little bit of added weight along the way. Its one of the drawbacks of putting on muscle. However, the way I look at it is i'd rather have muscle with a little bit of extra fat (that I can always get rid of later) than to not have any muscle at all.

You could do the 4 weight training sessions per week and do 1 or 2 cardio sessions... I would keep the cardio sessions short and do intervals or plyometrics and see if that helps.

Your meals are looking good!
