argh there are not enough hours in the day lately!!!

doing well on the eating and training though!

I swam a mile yesterday and am proud as punch of myself! First time I've hit the 1600m mark in a workout!
joining tri club at the end of the month (payday) can't wait! sis has hooked me up with one of her friends who is looking to get a few people together for cycles so going to see how that goes too.

finished recovery week (did four days) so back to full schedule this week again (six days).
running is coming along nicely. i think it was only two weeks ago I couldn't run longer than 3 mins continuously now I'm doing intervals of 6 or 9 mins with 1 or 2 mins rest - so i'm really starting to see some progress and believe now that I WILL DO IT!

weight is falling off. I'm down to 172lbs now and have lost 23 inches (last measured i think about a week ago or ten days) total. feel great, half clothes are too big - shopping anyone???lol

today is a run day but husband is working late so don't think i'll get it in. Will do a strength workout instead and at least get that in - have dumbells and stuff here.

onwards and upwards!

thanks everyone! I have a big smile on face here :D :D :D :D
FOF - "A" race is a sprint triathlon (I know I could do the swim and bicycle leg of a full olympic but the 10km run scares me a bit lol) so the distances are
600m open water swim
20km cycle
5k run
It's on August 29th

I'm going to do a couple of practice triathlons in June and July to get used to transition and see how I'm doing. The August race I want to get a personal best though so that is main training aim.
If I really like it I'll keep it up and focus on doing the Olympic distances next year - this year is about introducing myself to the sport and getting fit and losing etc.
Olympic distance is 1km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run....that's for 2011 when I'll be fit and carrying less weight so in a better position to complete (note complete not compete).
goal is to work way up and if I;m still at it in four or five years time, I want to do an ironman!!!! 3.8m swim, 180km cycle and 42km run! That's a long way off though! But I've been watching Ironman Hawaii docs on youtube and it is seriously inspirational what the human body can do.

just a small goal like...lol
baby steps though, sprint tri's for 2010 all the way!
Onwards and upwards

You'll do great Noosk. I started out doing the sprints, and a few duathlons, then moved up to the Olympic distance in 2008. Was a great experience - I know you will enjoy it. I also want to someday do an Ironman! And I've watched those Ironman Hawaiian youtube videos - makes me cry when I see the power of the human spirit carrying those people across the finish line when they have absolutely nothing left - really inspiring!
One of the most inspiring and emotional finishes I've ever watched was the 1997 Ironman with Sian Welch and Wendy Ingraham:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTn1v5TGK_w" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It makes me cry everytime I see it. Some people may think they were crazy for pushing their bodies to the limit like that, but when you watch it, you see the true essence of human grit and determination....when your body has given everything it has and no longer responds to what you are telling it to do, but somehow they find the resourcefulness and strength to make it across that finish line. Awesome. Inspiring.
Keep moving upwards and onwards Noosk. Good luck with all your training, I think you have a good plan with doing a few practice tri's before the main event you want your personal best at - give you a feel for what you need to do in the transition areas, from the water to the bike, then from the bike to the run ( legs always feel weird after the bike, transitioning to the run - like jelly!) - takes a few strides to get your "land legs" back under ya! You'll learn some great tips to help cut some time here and there.
Now you are making me want to find a tri to do this summer!! :D

so today did 7km in 50 minutes. walked 500m warm up, ran 4km (with about 500m of walking split over the 4km as needed) and then brisk walked 2.5km home for cool down. was a beautiful day here the park was lovely and I felt good running!!! baby steps huh?
tonight I did upper body strength for about 30 mins and i'm about to have a protein shake and then head to bed.
night all!
Onwards and upwards (to bed!!)

okay i am dragging butt around here after a really long active 3 hours of dance classes (show season is upon us so I'm having to dance more than when we're prepping for exams)...

this morning I did a swim. did 1750m in total. was going to finish at the 1000m mark as I was doing sprints and drills so was feeling it. A lady asked me would I time her doing 20 lengths so I said I'd join her and time us both. Was really motivating to swim with someone kept me going! so was delighted with time, and ended up doing a fab workout. Was thrilled with sprints too as time is coming down to 1:30 for the 100m consistently (now this is going all out - not sure I could sustain it over the whole race distance)...but it's the first time I've been under two minutes so was making great strides today! I had cut 45 seconds off 100m in a week? WHAT?? mad I know, but I kept churning out the 100m's at 30 - 33 seconds and I could NEVER do that before...wild.

The rest of the day I ran around like a loon trying to cram food in gob between school runs and driving to classes and ended up having no dinner grrrr. stopped on way home into the local chinese and got some veg stir fry and chicken breast with beansprouts so not a great dinner but will do at least isn't roaring at me anymore! Usually mother has dinner for me when I'm on way back to pick up the kids - but today she had a FRIED pork chop (yuck) and a big plate of potatoes in cream and cheese (yes delicious but not what I want so late in the evening)...
anyway fed now. the beast is sated for now.. just waiting on son's swim gear to finish in the washing machine so I can dry them for tomorrow morning as he has swimming with school. please hurry. I need bed!!!!
onwards and upwards peeps!
