Re: Sandi's food and whatever journal
Hey, everybody!! Thank you all sooooo much for the praise and encouragement!!! It really helps me sooo much to have you cheering me on. What good is success if you have no one to share it with??? Lynne, I use store brand turkey. Jennie-O is good too, though. As long as it says "lean" on the package. I love this as I make a batch and it lasts me all week!! Great for lunch or dinner. It's awesome to have it around in case I get stuck for a meal. I am sure you notice I eat a lot of the same things over and over again. Funny, but I am not a kind of person who needs variety in food. Eating the same things everyday is perfectly fine for me. I guess that is a blessing because it's less work if I don't have to think of new things or look up recipes.
Since I have to plan meals for the kids at least mine are pretty much set. Maybe it's just laziness. Haha. So, yeah, I have noticed some progress even since last month!! Lynne, you said it. Consistancy is the key!! This is the first time I have stuck with it so vigorously for so long. Imma keep on goin so hopefully I can see those lower abs in time. Yes, I am obsessed with the lower ab thing!!!!
Shoot for the stars!!
So, I had a nice day with lil sis today. We went to lunch and did a lil shopping.
The perfect day!
5:00 a.m.-1 hr elliptical workout
7:00 a.m.-protein smoothie w/ 2 scoops pro, banana,strawberries,nat pb,milk
10:30 a.m.-2 lf string cheese
2 hard boiled eggs
2:00 p.m.-grilled salmon
broccoli
skipped a meal here because I was shopping...., how time flies!
8:00 p.m.-lean ground turkey w/kidney beans & taco seasoning.
asparagus.
Yeah, yeah, I know cals are super lowwww today! I do not do this intentionally just so you know. I will have something else before bed to bring it up a bit. Tomorrow I have training in early a.m. followed by a busy day at work then hubby will be flying in in the evening so will be a long but happy day! If I do not get a chance to say hey over the weekend you all have a great one, k? Remember....we all can do this. If you want it then it is worth the time and effort it takes to get there. I am a completely different and better person than I was this time last year inside and out!! I believe I can do anything!!!
nite, all!

You're a beautiful rolemodel and you can be proud of yourself. Especially living in a country known for it's obesity epidemics.

Re: Sandi's food and whatever journal
Hi, everybody!!!!! Well, that was a quick but fun weekend!! First of all, I have not seen hubby in 6 weeks and when he saw me he was like....wowww! He could not believe the progress I have made since then.
He was in total awe of new physique!! He could not stop telling me how great and sexy he thought I looked. Of course I didn't mind!
Soooo, we spent some family time and yeah, I splurged a bit food wise but that is ok. I made cinimon rolls last nite and yes, I had one too. We went to brunch with in laws today and I had an egg breakfast with scrapple. I know, I know that stuff is pure garbage but I loooove it and it was sooo good!!!
Then, sadly I dropped him off at the airport but then headed to the grocery store to get healthy food for the week. You guessed it!...ground turkey, fresh salmon and brussels sprouts. Yummmmm! Ok, now I have 4 weeks till I go down to Florida to get hubby and bring him home for good!
I want to get more cut so I am going to continue where I left off. I am going to try really hard to get that nite cardio in. Is sooo hard with oldest in sports because I have to wait till he gets picked up which sometimes isn't till after 8 pm then i am beat tired. No excuses, tho! I can do this.
Boss, thank you for saying that. I hope to be a good role model. Yes, many people here in the U.S. are obese. It is a very sad thing. I have found that most of them just don't know how to live healthy. They are uneducated about the food they are consuming and have no idea how to eat for maximum health. Everywhere you turn is junk food or a lot of the time food is marketed as being "healthy" even if it is not. Our schools are selling junk food and sugar drinks in their cafeterias!
I am appalled by this. I know it because kids come home with bags of chips and stuff that they get there with the lunch money we give them!! I tell them not to buy it but hey, they are kids and cannot resist temptation when we are not around to say no. Changes need to be made to curb this epidemic as it is totally avoidable. A good thing is now in Philadelphia all resturaunts and fast food places must post calorie info on all of their menus!!! That way people can make more informed choices. I hope this trend continues.
Tomorrow morning I will be back in the gym at 5 a.m. for what I am sure will be a butt kicking workout. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!!!

You already are Sandi, to those that notice. Your children are lucky to have you there to help them. America can contnue to make these small but worth while changes that you talk of, as does Britain, but unfortnately the quick rise of certain negative influences in 40 years, versus the slow rise in positive influences, (partly down to when science finds more to speak about and how often it speaks), means the situation will never get vastly better anytime soon.sandigirl06 wrote: Boss, thank you for saying that. You don't have a responsibility to change peoples lives with your example, it's down to others, but you can continue to be what you are and show people what a healthy mind, attitude and personality are worth. You ARE that rolemodel already, you do inspire others here and impact well on your family, so be proud of all you are Sandi and keep being that person. It's something you're naturally good at and it's the best person for you to be, because it has immeasurable value.
Thank you again for you continued contributions and GOOD LUCK as always

Re: Sandi's food and whatever journal
Good evening, everyone! Well, I am sitting here sooo exhausted from day. Nothing unusual. Just the same a$$ kicking I always get on Mondays with training and a long day at work. I am very sore from workout this morning. We did several exercises on the Bosu ball including lunges, push-ups and crunches!! Followed by kick-boxing. So, after a fun weekend with a few cheats it was kinda tough getting on the good food again today. Sooo much goodies at work but I did not partake in them. Food for today:
4:45 a.m.-protein shake w/water
5:00 a.m.-full body workout w/trainer & kickboxing
6:15 a.m.-protein shake w/water
7:30 a.m.- mushroom omelette
oatmeal
strawberries
10:30 a.m.-2 lf string cheese
22 almonds
1:15 p.m.-1 cup chic broth
steamed chic
broccoli
brown rice
4:30 p.m.-1 can tuna w/onions
2 hard boiled eggs
7:30 p.m.-grilled salmon
brussels sprouts
It looks to me like I did pretty well with cals today. I should put this into Fit tracker and see exactly what I have but I am just too tired at the moment. Tomorrow i will be up at 4:30 for cardio. I plan to go again in the afternoon also if all goes according to plan also. I was asked to go to a bbq at the house of one of gym friends tomorrow. I have met soo many nice people there! Love gym!

Re: Sandi's food and whatever journal
In opinion 1,366 calories, or a similar figure a day for exercising females, is not enough. Apart from anything, as I said recently on here, the body needs things like Vit D, K2, Magnesium and Calcium for Bones as well as Phosphorus, Boron, Vit C, Copper and possibly Silicon and Manganese too.sandigirl06 wrote:Thank you, Boss, for taking the time to lay all that out for me. It does make a lot of sense. So Fit Tracker has goal weightloss cals at 1,366. That is not correct? I will try harder to get all cals in!!![]()
If you consume too low amounts of these things, you may affect condition and may even cause Osteopenia, (thinning Bones), which is not good, because if you weightlift or run with Bones and joints that become intolrant to pressure, strain, or even mild jarring, then stress / hairline fractures become more likely, nay even enevitable.
Having lower than desirable calories, can promote this, "accident waiting to happen
", scenario, so it is imperitive that adequate calories can be sourced. Plus if the body is losing some weight, it may be some muscle, water and as mentioned Bone density, which are losses that should be prevented or kept to a minmum, because Fat is the order of the day with weight loss.
Also lower calories could provide slightly lower amounts of other things, that aid with Cholesterol levels, Blood pressure, Immune system, Nervous system etc etc.
I advocate around 2,100-2,200 for females, because then you have 1,800, (a sedentary average), plus more for exercise.
As I've said this can be done two ways in opinion.
350 calorie per meal over 6 meals.
450 in meal 1, 350 in 2,3,4, and 250 in meal 6.If you adopt the tapering off Metabolism approach, as some say it's more revved first thing, but tapers off in the evening, when the body is winding down.
The 2,100-2,200 scenario is a basic one size fits all thing. It cannot necessarily always yield a desirable outcome, because the human body is obviously not congruent from person to person, in respect of the way it's internal mechanisms work, but I believe stance is a good basis to work from, with tweaks being possible at any stage, where needs be.
Certainly it will better for you I feel to persue a better caloric level, hence why I suggested it.
By the way, you are doing brilliantly at the moment and as always I feel a lot of pride for you, because you're getting real honest results, from real, honest methods and you look fabulous for it and if people like Anna Cruz cite you as an inspiration, then your rolemodel title in mind is definitely deserved.
Keep up the hard work and keep smiling

Re: Sandi's food and whatever journal
Good evening, friends!! Boss, thank you so much for the reply to question. I am really trying to get cals in and I think I am coming pretty close by estimation. I seem to have plenty of energy for all that I do even while timing carbs so that is a good sign! I am sooo flattered and honored to be a role model to Anna or anyone else. When I first came here last year I was kinda lost and not knowledgable at all about this stuff. I was in awe of people like Boopster, Cassie and others (still am!). They were and ARE role models. I vowed that I would not turn back, learned everything I could from all of you and put it to motion. The words that stick in head are consistancy and patience. BIG words! So, thank you, Boss for your encouragement and praise. They mean a lot to me!
Yeah, Will, I looove those compliments from the hubby!! He ALWAYS thinks I look great no matter what but this time was a real WOW effect!!
Nokie, I TRY to get to bed by 10 p.m.. Yeah, I know I need more sleep but I just can't get to bed any earlier. Ugh!
Anna, that bosu ball is killer!!! Push ups on that thing are deadly but I got all of sets done!!
So yesterday I didn't log cause I was super busy. Imagine that! meals were pretty much the same and I did get 2 cardio sessions in.
One at 5 a.m. (60 mins) and another at 2 p.m. (45 mins).
Sooo, today was weight training day. We did some legs with combo upper body and intervals. On hardest interval I ran 11.0 for 30 seconds!!!! I did not know lil legs could go that fast!!!
I was soooo scared I was gonna trip or something but I didn't. That would be reeeally bad! food for today:
4:45 a.m.-protein shake w/water
5: a.m.-full body workout and intervals w/trainer
6:15 a.m.-protein shake w/water
7:15 a.m.-mushroom omelette
strawberries
oatmeal
10:30 a.m.-1 lf string cheese
22 almonds
1:15 p.m.-cup chic broth
grilled chicken
broccoli
4:20 p.m.-2 hardboiled eggs
grape tomatoes
8:00 p.m.-grilled salmon
brussels sprouts
snack before bed
As usual a busy day at work and I am really tired. That place really takes the life outta me! It's kinda like a clinic so we are really crazy busy. I work with the kid's dentist so we have to work while kids are screaming and even have to restrain them sometimes (well, a lot!). We have to work really fast to get the job done and we are usually overbooked also. When I get home I am exhausted! I think I should count workday as cardio! Ok, enough bitchin about me crazy job now.
I hope you all had a great day and fantastic workouts. early rise for cardio tomorrow! Love it!!!

Re: Sandi's food and whatever journal
Greetings!!! Ok, so I have to post the good and bad and today was baaad!
First of all I did not get up for moring cardio. I set alarm but when it rang I hit off instead of snooze so it didn't ring again. Then at 6:30 I got up with the kids for school and told myself when the youngest one got on the bus at 8:15 I would go then so no biggie. So after he got on the bus I went to get gym clothes on and I just couldn't!!! What I mean is brain could not comprehend the idea of going. So I listened and got back into bed.....till 1 p.m.!!!!!! I got up and did some things around the house but no gym and I had skipped a lot of meals. Ugh! I even snacked on a few cookies and a bit of chocolate! I think I have been posessed by some kind of demon.
Later I took the kids to Friendy's for dinner and there is not much healthy on the menu so I got the appetizer portion of chicken quesadillas. It was very small! Soooo, that was day. Food and exercise wise a big fat FAIL!! Thank goodness there is a tomorrow!
Here goes....
8:00 a.m.-protein shake w/water
SLEEP!!!!!!
1:30 p.m.-a few cookies and some Cadbury mini eggs...yummmmm!
2:30 p.m.-ground lean turkey w/kidney beans and taco seasoning.
6:30 p.m.-chic quesadillas
sugar free vanilla ice cream
Wow, this is a really sad day in fitness life! No harm done, tho. Will be up for training tomorrow morning and back to regular meals. Hope you all had a great day!!!!

Re: Sandi's food and whatever journal
That is your body saying..."I need a break!" and that is okay. You need a break every now and then. You push yourself really hard every day - so one day of not working out and treating yourself to a few sweets is not going to set you back. You'll get back on track tomorrow - no worries.sandigirl06 wrote:So after he got on the bus I went to get gym clothes on and I just couldn't!!!
