Okay,so I'm a 12 year old girl thats 5'3 tall.I'm ganna be honest and say i weigh 148 pounds
I'm all new to the exercising things so i don't know when people say the [insert name here] exercise routine.
I don't get alot of exercise RIGHT now.I'm ganna change it up a bit soon but right now i live in a normal house that were doing ALOT of renovations with and parents are really strict and don't have time to take me on a walk, let alone let me walk alone. No equipment, nothing. What i eat everyday is diffrent,so i'm a bit confused but i'll try hardest to break it down to what i eat most of the time.Sorry if im very dense right now, again im very new.....Any advice?
You are probably the luckiest person on this board! Being so young will give you a faster metabolism, and since you are still growing, you are going to be able to make changes much easier than anyone else here!! The younger you start, the easier it is to make healthy lifestyle choices that you can carry with you for the rest of your life!
Try to focus on some big picture things and don't worry as much about the specifics. Remember, if you are hungry you NEED to eat. Just stick to nice healthy choices and you should be okay! Here are a few things I think that you can focus on and should be able to work in most everyday.
**Be sure to eat lots of veggies! Get some fruit in too, but see if you can't work in plenty of veggies every day. They make a great snack! I like celery sticks, green pepper slices, broccoli and carrot sticks for quick snacks.
**Nuts are a good quick snack too if you get a little hungry between your meals. You probably eat breakfast and dinner at home and lunch at school. Is that right? A good after-school snack could include some veggies and nuts. Quick, easy and all the things you need to let you GROW!
**What do you do for your lunches? Do you pack one or buy one at school? What about breakfast? at school or at home? If you can pack a lunch try using whole grain bread of sandwiches with some lean turkey/ham/chicken and cheese, and a lil lettuce for that extra "crunch"! Water is a great drink, it is portable, good for you and you don't have to worry about keeping it cold! You can also take a piece of fruit or some veggies with you too. Have you ever had ants on a log? Celery stick, a little smear of peanut butter and some raisins! Perfect!
**Try not to eat too many things like french fries or chips or crisps. Those aren't really the best choices for you. Pizza and cheeseburgers are on the same level. They can be fun meals on occasion, but try not to eat them too often. Just as a special treat. Same goes for cookies, cakes, pies, ice cream, etc.
As for your physical activity, what sort of things do you do with your friends? Do you go for bike rides? Or during the summer can you go swimming at all? You could also get involved in some activities at your school. Do you have a basketball or a soccerball? Sometimes I just love to run around and dribble basketball. It is a great aerobic activity! You can also try jumping rope or hula hooping (hula hooping is actually one of favorite cardio activities!) Your gym teacher might be able to give you some more ideas too.
The most important thing is to focus on the WAY you live your life. Stay active, eat healthy! You are too young to focus on your weight! You are still growing. If you are able to maintain your weight, you are doing pretty good because you're still getting taller. Does that make sense?
I hope this helps! Please let any of us know if you have any other questions!
