New to this site, can anyone help me/give me advice

Post by IronTaph »

Basically heres story, im 19, 6ft1 and weigh 112kg/246lb...i do sports literally every week day..heres how exercise day goes:
Monday: Gym: walk 10mins treadmill warmup then muscle workout low weights high reps for high number of sets, then finish 15minutes walking at fast pace on treadmill.

Tuesday: Gym in the morning mostly walking and arm curls, then MMA training in the evening

Wednesday: Gym, similar to monday: walk, muscle work, walk

Thursday: Again gym, repeat

Friday: Gym, mostly walking and arm curls, then have boxing at night.

Rest saturday&sunday

diet mostly consists of 3 meals a day and eating lots of clemintines between meals and plenty of fish for high protien and salads.

Now the problem is ive been doing this for about 5 weeks now and seeing no real results of weight loss, im at the same weight but body is looking better and firmer, but i really want to trim down the fat... any advice on what kind of thing i should be doing differently?? I really dont want to just be doing cardio as i really want to maintain strength and possibly get stronger. ideal body shape would be like Kimbo Slice: http://www.parcbench.com/wp-content/upl ... te_xc1.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He seems to have trimmed down a lot since turning into MMA since his street fighting days.. Please look at picture and advise me

Thanks alot and hope to hear some positive responses....

Hi there,

Post an example of a typical day for your diet so we can see exactly what youre doing.

When you say high reps/low weights... what are we talking here?

As far as weightloss... Don't go by what the scale says. Instead go by how your clothes are fitting. You might also take some progress pics and follow up in a couple weeks with more pics so you can compare and see what kind of progress youre making. Theres a chance right now that you're putting on muscle so the scale isn't going to be a good measure of progress.

Yeah, I'm with cassiegose, I'd need to see more specifics. first thought is that you need to increase cardio intensity vs. a walk. What kind of "muscle work" are you doing? For how long? What does your MMA class consist of? Sometimes it's a matter of increasing intensity or duration of certain activities and it's hard to advise without specifics.

more specifics would be good but in the mean time try mixing up the cardio so its not always walking on the treadmill, try other machines and vary the intensities and duration you do
for the weights the lower the reps the more you aim for strength and size and the higher the reps the more for endurance and toning, for mma you really need both, so its good to mix up the rep ranges working on heavier weights for strength and power 4-8 reps and for the endurance go for 15 +.
by mixing things up you keep challenging the body, great if you get bored easily and the more muscle you have the more calories you burn as muscle is an active tissue.
yeah and Kimbo is a bit of a monster, but he has had to cut down to make weight so looks more ripped now than when he was an internet star.
