I feel your pain! Maybe instead of cutting it out completely you could try just using one tbsp instead of two?fitoverforty wrote:Had protein shake for breakfast with 1/2 apple - NO peanut butter....I cried a little...me misses PB already.

No Trader Joe around here, but I have seen the Almond butter at Walmart. It has as much fat in it as the natural PB, but might be more flavorful and I could get by with using less.Nokie173 wrote:Almond butter?? (You have trader joe over there???)
I tried the 1 tbsp. of PB a couple of days ago and I could probably live with that, it is just that I know myself too well, and 1 tbsp will get VERY generous if ya know what I mean...

One trick I did learn about refrigerated PB. Because it is cold it is so hard to spread onto apple slices, but if I put it in the microwave for about 15 seconds, it warms it up and softens it, and OMGosh! delish!!!......must...stop...thinking.....about....PB!!!

Lunch: Grilled chicken salad w/FF ranch dressing. 10 almonds

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
So lunch is done and I am at 29 fat grams for the day and 785 calories. So that is 26 less fat grams than yesterday at this same time and about 200 calories less. Woo hoo!!!
Gives me alot more wiggle room for dinner.

Focusing on what you eat is definitely the right thing to do - every little bit "hurts" ~! LOL Today I took out book "The Eat Clean diet by Tosca Reno - not sure if you remember that it was her story that really got me going initially - anyway, I'm going to re-read the book as I think it will energize me. Already I'm reading her typical Clean Eating day items and KNOW I am eating wrong, slightly but wrong none the less.
Good luck Lynne - I also love PB but only put it on whole grain toast in the morning and that's not too often. "treat" is ice cream, actually it's Frozen Yogurt but it tastes just as yummy as ice cream maybe even better. But the real treat is I put some chocolate sprinkles on it - think that's why I'm not losing weight?!?! It's sooooo hard

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
Lu started it......
Ended the day with 1319 calories
Protein was 121 grams (only missed fittracker goal of 131 grams by 10
)
Carbs: 68 g. - just trying to keep this as low as possible (most of it came from fruit)
Fat: 48 g. - only 9 g. over fat goal - so a big improvement!
I know that the calories are low, but everyday I'm making adjustments and trying to find the right combo for me to lose weight. Technically I should have had 400 more calories to meet fittracker goal for weight loss - but in head I'm thinking how is that possible? How could I eat 400 more calories when i had already exceeded fat gram goal and nearly protein goal? So I will just keep fine tuning diet/nutrition 'til I get it where it needs to be. It is amazing to see all the hidden carbs and fats in our foods when you start logging in everything and keeping track of each meal. It is time consuming but eye opening and definitely worth it if it gets me to goal sooner.
That's it for today 4.13.10 - tomorrow is another day to get it right and stay in the fight!

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
I am still struggling with that too. I have worked myself up to about 1500 calories a day and I am still losing weight every week. But I have had a hard time getting past the 1500 mark - it's a lot of food and mentally I am struggling with adding it! I should be around 1700.fitoverforty wrote:I know that the calories are low, but everyday I'm making adjustments and trying to find the right combo for me to lose weight. Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
Isn't 1800 calories per day the minimum for an average woman who is sedentary per Boss Man? But I really think it depends on what cycle you are in - when I first started out, mostly Cardio, adding in weights, but it was when I was heaviest - I was consuming on average 1300 calories and lost 45 lbs? Go figure.....
In reading Tosca Reno's book "Eat-Clean Diet" - she tells of her own experience - she ran everyday....for several months (something like I did, Cardio anyway) and she lost 70 lbs! THEN she started weight training to tone and build muscle. Her comment that she was after losing the weight she was just a skinnier version of her fat self, with no shape led her to begin the weight training. Now if you do Cardio AND weight, you might lose weight slower, but the tone of your body would definitely be better with less of an opportunity for sagging flesh.
I don't think one size fits all.....
Course Lynne - YOU are already lean and mean - I'm on the page that we need to continue weight training but Cardio is just as important...YOU look great! Give me a month and maybe I'll post another picture

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
Today's diet review after 2nd meal of the day:
Calories 755
Protein - 56g.
Carb - 58g.
Fat - 34g.
So, I still need at least 500 to 600 more calories but can only have 5 more fat grams. And I need about 70 more grams of protein. So what to eat for dinner? Maybe a lean chicken breast with some roasted mushrooms (good source of protein)? From what I've been reading about mushrooms, we should eat them everyday.
Kind of a long read but full of info about the benefits of mushrooms:
