Hello! name is Jessica and I just registered today but I have been checking out this forum for a few weeks now. Finally taking the plunge and edging myself in. Slowly...Big eyed and all.
Let me just go ahead and lay it out: I want to lose weight! Gain muscle! Be ripped! Something along those lines, including wrasslin', being an animal control officer, doing dancing, and a lot of fighting. Wow. I might be laying out too much on future plate.
I WANNA BE STRONNNGGGGGG. LIKE HULK. JESSICA SMASH....never liked the Hulk though. I'm sorry, he wasn't that cool. I'll just call myself the Juggernaut.
Seriously though. I am 21, weigh (at this precise moment) 213 lbs. I have the whole "been chunky since I was a kid" story going on. It's time I lose weight. I haven't seen weight start with "1" in a long time. I think it's all getting to me though because yesterday...*sigh*...I purchased Alli! DUN DUN DUNNN. I don't really know why either. I'm feeling hormonal lately and just plain useless and ugh...ugly. Etc etc etc. I don't look at Alli as a weight loss pill though. More like a "Hey just you spent 50 bucks on this so you BETTER lose weight" pill. I've read piles of reviews from all kinds of sites and honestly, it doesn't seem like a harmful pill FOR ME. I can't speak for others. I just want an incentive to stop snacking on crap foods. The ones high in fat! As a cashier, while being a student, I can not afford to risk an "Oops" on a busy day. I don't eat a lot of junk food but the times I do I feel extremely guilty. "Now why did you have to go and drink that Mountain Dew? Yes...it's a mortal's form of ambrosia but still! Bad bad bad!" Hah. thoughts are strange sometimes. Anyways, I am going to start a diet journal on the forum and am going to try not to feel like a sell-out if I happen to put "Took Alli before eating fresh ,from the oven,(no frying!) Mahi Mahi." ...Mmm...I'm hungry. ~__~
I just wanted to put myself out there. Throw myself to the lions or sharks or something like that. Make an intro. Okay. I'll stop with the explanations. ; )
Oh and just to say that I kind of asked for advice...Poached eggs? Love them. Do I destroy their weight loss value if I put them on toasted wheat bread that's got honey and made-from-olive-oil butter?
Oh and...getting rid of upper butt? How!? If I get rid of the upper butt then maybe actual butt will look more...bootyliscious!

Re: Frustration! Hormones!...Alli?
Thank you! I am already recording all the stuff I have eaten today. Which isn't much so far because I slept in really late. Meh. It's day off! Zzzz
And yes I know. The Alli. I use to look at weight loss pills and raise an eyebrow whilst casting a disapproving glance at someone buying them(because usually it was SKINNY people honestly). I still do! HYPOCRITE ALERT!!BAM BAM. I haven't actually taken any of the Alli yet. I feel intimidated/motivated though and have started today off right. I hope I can keep this up. I may not even take the Alli...Okay I probably will when I eat dinner but meh. I'll give it a chance. Some things really do work for people and some things don't. This may not work for me but well...at least I will know and won't have it in the back of mind whispering promises. The fiend.

Okay, I'm going ot respond in as tactful and as consderate way as I think I can
.
Please don't take the Alli. Alli did cause issues for some people in America as I read once, plus when you read reviews you get certain things like.
A: People losing weight who have no idea what Alli does, because they do other stuff that might help, like stop drinking Alcohol, eat better, exercise etc etc. They're people who are probably too afraid to admit, that healthy stuff might have worked and the pills did nothing, because that sort of realisation hurts, so they dupe themselves into thinking things like Alli worked.
B: People who think these things work, because they don't consider other things they do might have been the case. They're not the afraid to admit they bought a "turkey" product types, just the "can't see the woods for the trees" types.
C: Reviews are sometimes faked, as are testimonials in some cases. Let's face it, there may be plenty of L Smith's in California, or R Chavez's in Texas, but some of the quoted names in testimonails, could be looked up on a legitimate internet search, like White Pages for example, but when about 10+ names appear in the same state or province, it's hard to be sure if the testimonial hasn't been faked, because there is little solid evidence of who the person is. Obviously I'm not saying testimonials should include the persons address and phone number, but you don't even get a photo or two sometimes, or a little more personal background, just the supposed, I was depressed and overweight then I bought blah, blah blah, type spiel.
Fake reviews aren't hard to do. You work for a company making fat loss crap, you sign up with a fake name like D Jones Kentucky, then say how wonderful the Bull Poo product you used was. A bit like those people who make loads of phoney Ebay accounts, praising their real one, so people will be more likely to by fake Gucci and poor quality tat, that's passed off as legit.
The fact some products are approved for use or even on prescription doesn't make them, safe, or ethical. Anything called scientifically proven to help you lose weight, only needs to go through some kind of legitimate scientific process and if it could strip of 0.0001% Fat, it could hold that claim. That's then not illegal, if however misleading based on actual performance.
Analagy. Scientific evidence proves Nuts and Peanuts can cause Eczema to some people. in a study last year, 3-4 credible medics, with 500 patient histories between them, cited Sesame Seeds as another trigger for some people. The blessed FDA waived this away as being inadequate. This is the same people who think Alli is therefore automatically okay to prescribe.
Don't necessarily trust anything they approve. Scientific cites, studies and peer reviewed stuff that is independant and stated as such, should 99.99% be just as is.
You may use something that doesn't cause a problem to your Thyroid in the short-term, but what if you cause any irreperable damage? You might get no side effects initially, but enough damage that the Thyroid deteriorates under normal circumstances, if the tolerance levels were compromised by the pills, so that regular functioning cause more damage, then years later you end up on something like Synthroid.
Scietific studies may indicate short-term risk, but not always long-term risk, depending on the amount of exposure to living tissues, studies with rats and mice, duration of trials, accuracy of data recording and test procedures etc etc.
Plus "weight" can also include muscle, water, and possibly Bone density, not just Fat, so you mustn't assume you're losing pretty much all Fat. You lose any significant amounts of the other things, you could be liable to increase risk of things like Joint problems, Fracture risk, Gout, Kidney stones, Dehydration etc.
If you look at it logically, people lost weight in the past and still do now without crap. It's not like loads of people suddenly got fat 25 years ago and then suddenly need over the counter or prescription "aids", to help them lose weight, so please don't be a victim. You are worth so much more to yourself than that.
You already to some extent became a victim of food addiction, so don't fall under the spell of almost certainly fake and unhealthy products. If you are at any long-term risk of damage, you don't deserve to one day end up like that, even years after you stop taking crap like Alli.
The best way you can help yourself, is believe in yourself, trust in yourself, and give people like us the time and space, to believe in, trust in and support YOU!!
Big corporations almost certainly don't care that much, if you waste money or use crap that makes you ill, or worse like Hydorxycut did, kills you. They have B.S. tactics and fancy lawyers to wriggle out of those situations often enough, I'll bet.
If you can be honest and truthful with yourself and us, and you keep letting us know how you feel and are doing on a fairly frequent or very frequent basis, we can be here for you one way or another and when one persons isn't, you can be sure someone else will. We don't intentionally ignore or let anyone down, because we don't make financial gain as members, so we have no reson to work from a standard script or a hidden agenda, we give you the human touch and the genuine behaviour you deserve from us, to help you achieve.
So GOOD LUCK and be proud of your decision to want to change. You have a right to feel special, better and more feminine. That can be truly earned through hard work dedication, not pills and pointless creams / surgery done for vain non-essential reasons, but when you get the results you work hard for, you'll feel so amazing for doing it like that, I'm certain and we ARE here for you and WANT to help.

Re: Frustration! Hormones!...Alli?
That was beautiful. Simply stunning. Though I admit to skimming through the middle a bit. Not out of disrespect or anything but because I just got off of work and mind can't process some things at the moment. I get the gist though. ; ) You know how to butter a person up for sure. And how to tell facts. Just so you know I returned the Alli earlier today. Like I said..hormones and frustration can make a girl go CRAZY.
Now, I can once again raise eyebrow at people who buy weight loss pills. And not be TOO much of a hypocrite...:3
But maybe they were just having one of those dayyys.

Re: Frustration! Hormones!...Alli?
I did the Alli thing when it first came out over the counter. It is basically a chemical tape worm. Makes it so you cannot absorb as much fat in your small intestines, but you also cannot digest fat soluble vitamins like vitamin A and the like. If you eat something with fat, it doesn't get absorbed and you poop it out. They tell you to eat a 1200 calorie diet very low in fat. Who wouldn't lose weight on 1200 calories, but wait you actually get less than that into your system because a percentage of your calories are not being absorbed. I do a lot too, including fighting and 1200 is not enough calories a day. Oh yeah make sure you are always near a bathroom because that stuff gives you the runs and don't ever sneeze!!!! unless you brought a change of clothes with you.
I am glad you returned it. You can do it without drugs

Re: Frustration! Hormones!...Alli?
Yeah I figured that from reviews. But Allie episode is ovah. Now it's just me and willpower and I have a lot of that.
Fighting? Ohhh. I wish I had a boxing or MMA gym around here. I've always wanted to lose weight like that.

Re: Frustration! Hormones!...Alli?
a lot of karate dojo also practice MMA by incorperating jujitsu and vise versa. Most will give you a free week or lesson to see if you like it. It has turned into way of life (with weight lifting too) from once being a 240 pound hunk of blubbler on sofa to a 170 pound hottie

Re: Frustration! Hormones!...Alli?
That sounds SO IDEAL. I mean really I want to be a hottie and I want to be a strong one at that. That's seriously inspiring. I have always been stronger than friends and not just because I am "bigger" but because I was built with more muscle. I think the closest Karate place is about 2 hours away and well...You know what I need to stop letting myself be limited by distance. "I can go the distance!!"...Man I knew not to watch Hercules again. Hehe. I'll call around. Do some site searching.
Re: Frustration! Hormones!...Alli?
You certainly have great goals to aim for. I see too many females in Gym, do some decent Cardio, then waste 20-30 minutes doing 15 rep sets with 2 plates on a machine and tickling their muscles, which basically is pointless and will have no serious bone or muscle development potential, or fat burning potential either.
I'm not saying females should all strive to gain some bulk, but your attitude to yourself and your physical future is very commendable and I certainly would encourage and endorse any female wishes to gain size and / or learn self defence.
So GOOD LUCK again and do keep us updated, because I think you're going to fit in just fine around here.
