stunt growth???
I have never been sure if it was just a myth...but I have heard from some people that lifting weights may stunt your growth...is this true...I am 16 and still growing so I am curious!!
No I don't think it does.
Stunted growth would come from things like a thyroid problem, like low growth Hormone production, or things like M.S. Motor-neurone, Spina Bifida etc etc.
In opnion, the only thing you might do, is if you train to intensely, or too heavy, and caused some mild damage to the Adolescent bone structures, as they don't proplerly devlelop until 17 / 18.

It's like most misconceptions, it must stem back years.
It's like I read on an internet site once, a female saying her Mother had tried to persuade her, never to start weights, because she'd become a Lesbian with a beard.
That's got to be the worst piece of ignorance, about weight training there is.
The Mother probably heard some whacky B.S. about elevated Test levels, or something like that I expect
.
The only other thing I could possibly see, that might affect growth, other than going too hard and heavy, would be someone about 13, 14, doing very heavy Smith Squats, and putting a heap of weight, compression and pressure, on their partially formed vertebrae.
However even something like that, would probably only result in a worst case scenario, of mild spinal deformity, which could possibly be corrected with Chiro work.
