44yo, need to burn fat and tone,,your thoughts please

I am 44 yo, been working out a lot and feel that I have hit a wall. I believe I have using too much weightm elbows and knees hurting all the time( but I work through it). I have been thinking of doing more cardio, 30 to 45 minutes 3 times a week, 15 minutes and then the 30 min workout at gym twice a week( weekends to rest). what do you all think, I cannot run, bad knees and all. So a little advice would be great, thanks

I am 48 and can totally relate to your situation. Keep up the lifting but I would suggest easing up on the weight for a while and see if that helps. I also try to balance cardio and weight training. I mostly use an elliptical for cardio as it is effective and easy on knees. You said that you go to a gym, have you ever tried working out on an elliptical trainer? I had an accident that kept me out of the game for a long time so I am getting back into working out using smaller weights and more repetition. I am still at the beginning of fitness program but so far so good.
What type of cardio are you doing?
