Re: Best Protein shakes?
The absolute highest bio-available protein is "Whey Protein Hydrolysate" and your muscles love this because it's digested and absorbed faster than any other protein source. Researchers discovered that out of all of the proteins, whey protein hydrolysate not only had the highest availability of amino acids, but it also had the highest availability of amino acids during the entire three (3) hours after consuming! That would make whey hydrolysate high on the list of all proteins when it comes to muscle building! Hope this helps.

I'll bet it's the most expensive too.
Re: Best Protein shakes?
I also like Optimum Nutrition's whey protein. Buy it in bulk to save money. And don't think buying some "super advanced formula" (more expensive) protein supplement will make any difference. It won't.

any powder wil do
Re: Best Protein shakes?
Depends what's in it.
Soy Powders are no good for Soy allergy sufferers.
Anything with herbs in it, may possibly interfere with some types of Medicines, depnding on the type(s) used, amounts used and what meds you're on, regardless of whether they're temporary or Chronic, (the only example of this I can give is Black Cohosh, (depression treatment Herb), in relation to Anti-depressants), yeah not a great example, but highlights a point.
Anything with Caffeine in it, when you've got Heart problems, or may experience Xanthinuria, if you don't possess the Dehydrogenase Enzyme, needed to convert the Xanthines in Caffeine into Uric Acid. Eliminate Gout sufferers from this point, as anyone with Gout should be on a Low Protein diet, so Uric Acid conversion the Nitrogen in the Protein and in any Fat content, plus Xanthines if it's a Caffeinated Powder, shouldn't be a health risk, as the person shouldn't take any Protein powder full stop.
Anything with Arginine in it, may increase the side effects of a Herpes Virus.
Anything with Creatine in it is a no-go, if you're experiencing any issues regarding Kidney function or health.
Other possible contraindications I don't know of, or can't remember offhand.
