Re: Cassie's 2010 Contest Prep Journal
Hiiiiiii!
Today I'm 3 1/2 weeks out from first show of the season. I decided to go ahead and do the upcoming March show as I was able to find another gal who go and split a hotel room with me as well as help me with last minute contest preparations. Sooooo 3 1/2 weeks. Crunch time.
body is fighting me lately and its really starting to get annoying. I started having troubles sleeping about a month ago and now have to take an over the counter sleeping pill every night just to fall asleep (yes I realize that is a sign of overtraining and am fully aware that I'm currently overtraining and have been for some time). Last week right quads started giving me hell and have been pretty sore lately. Not sure if I pulled something or if I just tweaked it? Today was leg day and it wasn't as sore as it has been so I'm hoping it was just a temporary thing. I did go a bit easy on it just in case and have skipped the sprints for the past few workouts as that really seems to irritate it. In addition, neck is giving me hell and I have a terrible knot in back. I'm falling apart and its really pissing me off. If somebody else was having the same issues I would tell them to take it easy for a few days and bounce back next week. However, I can't really take it easy right now being so close to the show so am just trying to buckle down and get through. I'm still 6 1/2 weeks out from the big show of the season. I don't think I'll be 100% ready for this first show but am using it more as an ice breaker for the big one in April. I'm hoping that if I hit it hard for another 6 1/2 weeks i'll be 100% prepared for the big show of the season, then can kind of coast for the next 3 weeks as I prepare for the May show (the last show of the season). The May show is more for fun than anything and after the previous 2 shows I should be able to just maintain and be ready for the 3rd.... assuming body holds up!
diet has been easy however the weight isn't coming off like I'd like to to so have changed macros and cut a few calories in and effort to drop a few more pounds for the first show. I'm hoping to be down another 4-5 lbs in the next few weeks. Its ambitious but I think I can do it (fingers crossed).
I ordered suit the other day. I ended up going with red afterall... "lipstick red" to be exact. It should be here any time so i can start decorating it. Fun!
I suppose thats all I know right now. I hope all is well with EVERYBODY!

Try taking something like Bromelain and / or Querecetin supplements, as natural anti-inflammatories. Simply because having things like Pineapple, Apple, Peppers and Onions might screw the diet if you start having them, or more of them if you eat some or all of them already.
These supplements might possibly make a difference.

Re: Cassie's 2010 Contest Prep Journal
Thanks for the info Bossman! I will definitely look into those supps!

See thats the thing... I am training for the big show down the road. Its only about 6 1/2 weeks away so can't let up training now or I won't be fully prepared for the big show. There really is no way to get your body fat down where it needs to be without overtraining. Its kind of just the way it goes when you get into competitive bodybuilding. I'm doing best to take care of myself though and praying that I hold up long enough to get me through the upcoming competitions. Thanks for your concern Allison!amatlack wrote:Careful, Cassie! Would hate to see you strain yourself for this show only to find you injure yourself and aren't able to work toward the big show down the road. Don't forget to take care of yourself!

Re: Cassie's 2010 Contest Prep Journal
Helloooo.
Today I am about 2 1/2 weeks out from show. So far I'm having a pretty rough day but hoping that things will improve as the day goes on. I had absolutely NO energy this morning for AM workout and pretty much just went through the motions and got through it. I've also been having issues with "cornial ulcers" lately and seem to have developed another infection in eye (get to go to the dr in an hour to get it checked out). In addition I am incredibly cranky today. I feel sorry for those who have to be around me right now.
Luckily coworkers have gone through contest prep with me twice now so they do a pretty good job of avoiding me... and I do a pretty good jog of keeping to myself.
The diet is going well... Or I guess as good as can be expected at this point. I'm doing refeeds once a week and that helps immensly with energy levels on the weekends and gives me something to look forward to. The rest of the time energy levels are hit and miss and the food is pretty darn boring.... lots of eggwhites, chicken, fish, and veggies. Thank goodness for oatmeal as its keeping me sane at this point.
I suppose that is all I know today. little brain isn't working too well right now so can't think of anything else overly exciting to talk about.
I hope all is well with everybody!

How ya doin' Miss Crabby Pants...er...I mean, Cassie!!?
ONLY 2 1/2 MORE WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKS! Then you'll be on stage, stutting your stuff (oh yeah!! oh yeah!!) and taking a HUUUUUUUUUGE trophy as your prize! All the other figure girls will just drop out because they'll take one look at your buffness and know that they ain't got NOTHIN' on Cassie Gose!
Okay, okay...for some reason I have found a little burst of energy and an especially chipper mood, but the truth is, Dudie...I know that what you have to look forward to for the next 2 1/2 weeks is going to SUCK....especially when you get to peak week...so this is just little message saying hang in there, be tough, and you are going to do FANTASTIC!
Love ya man!

Re: Cassie's 2010 Contest Prep Journal
Sooooo I'm officially suffering from pre-contest low carb brain deadedness (I know thats not a word but I don't really care). I'm sure some of you remember before last show when I went to wash hair and couldn't remember if I was supposed to use shampoo or conditioner first... Well I'm at that point in contest prep and its getting interesting.
Story time... I live a good 20 minutes away from the gym and on Tuesdays and Thursdays I wake up at 4:30, drive to the gym, teach spin class, then get ready at the gym and head straight to work from there. Evidently last night in carb deprived state while packing bag for work I threw 2 VERY DIFFERENT brown shoes into gym bag AND forgot to pack stupid underwear (sorry if this is TMI lol!). Then this morning as I was getting ready to get dressed and come to work I realized that I had packed two different shoes for work.. and of course there was the whole underwear issue. I live 20 minutes from work so couldn't simply run home and grab stuff so ended up having to wear tennis shoes until roommate (aka ex fiance) could bring me a matching shoe. In addition, sometime between getting out of spinning class and getting into the locker room I ended up taking car keys and hanging them on the hook where I was supposed to be hanging the spinning class key. Later I realized that I still had the spinning class key in hand and thought i was losing it because I thought I remembered already hanging that key up. So I go to hang up the spinning class key and then remember that I never bothered to clock in before teaching spin class. So I clock in, then go shower and get dressed, then to go get in car and head to work and realize that i don't have car keys. So after going through bag about 5 different times I go back in to the gym to retrace steps and finally look at the gym keys and find car keys!!! Luckily I was running a little early this morning so wasnt terribly late to work. Another highlight of morning was that I was approached (before spin class) by the guy who pretty much chewed me out before last show (and told me that I needed to go eat a cheese burger and get the idea of competing out of head)... any ways... I was approached by this guy and he asked if I was sick. I said "no, feeling ok just a little out of it today" and he says (very rudely) "thats because you need to EAT". I think this guy just doesn't understand the whole bodybuilding thing and is convinced that I have an eating disorder. *face palm* You should all be very proud of me that I was able to refrain from punching him in the face. I'm a little hostile right now and am getting pretty tired of this dudes comments!
Needless to say its been an interesting day. I'm planning on it getting worse from here on out as carbs are going to be getting progressively lower over the next 2 weeks until show time. Watch this space for more interesting stories from yours truly.
*hugs to all*
Cassie
PS: Please keep in mind that i'm very carb deprived so if any part of the above post doesn't make sense just assume its the lack of carbs.

I don't think I would have been able to refrain myself from smacking him
On a positive note, at least in your carb-deprived state you were still the bigger person
