I row (scull in a single) and in the winter it's usually too cold to get out on the water. I spend far too much time on an ergo. What other options are there for winter training that would be compatible with sport?

Using indoor rowing machines will give you good cross over but, I would recommend a serious weight training program as well. Deadlifts, seated cable rows, bumbbell chest press, good mornings, facepulls, single leg Romanian deadlifts and ployo box jumps should do the trick.
