I am a bay area transplant. Moved to Kentucky because husband accepted a faculty position at UKy but we will never move back to CA because we cannot afford it even with a professor’s and an account’s salary. I grew up in SF and husband in Antioch and all of our family and friends are there but we would be like you working two jobs to afford it there :( . But I have to say I sure miss the bay area :( . I have been reading your food journal because you have lost so much weight….LOTS of lean protein. I don’t think I could eat that much although you workout MUCH harder than I do :D . I will try to increase calories and see if I can get to the 2lbs loss per week.

Anyway good luck with the continued weight loss it really is something to watch your cloth size decrease I cannot wait!

Thanks all for your encouragements!!! :D
At time I feel tire and just don’t feel like doing anything… (Being negative)
When times are down… I know where to get motivation!
I know I cannot stop now and need to push myself!!!
I have goals and I want to accomplish it!!!
Thanks for all your support!!!

@Lesplease – Do not feel lame girl… you’re awesome!
I’m going to keep weights 35lbs for bench to maintain…

 @ Caramp – Bay Area is pretty expensive to live… especially San Francisco.
I work 2 jobs to pay for dad’s medical bills…
I only work in SF. If I live in the city, I would have to work 3 jobs!!!!

WEEK#7

Meal#1 – Weetabix 2, protein shake, HB eggs 2
Meal#2 – Boca burger, edamame
Meal#3 – Brown rice 1c, grill salmon, steam broccoli 2c, cucumber yogurt sauce
Meal#4 – Scramble eggs, String cheese, nuts
WORKOUT – protein shake
Meal#5 – Wheat sandwich
Meal#6 – Grilled chicken salad and miso sauce
Meal#7 – Protein shake or scramble eggs (If still hungry)

Week#6 was not as great. I didn’t get to eat most of food. I kept throwing up. I was in bed the whole weekend and can only eat rice porridge and chicken noodle soup.

I went to hot yoga last week for the first time ever!!! I felt a little head ache before class but I thought it might be good for immune system because of the hot steam. Guess what? It was not! 90mins in a hot room doing 26 poses twice is not really thing!!! Even though I drank water throughout the entire session…. head was still pounding!!!
30mins in to it I’m thinking… when will this end…. 60mins in to it I’m thinking…. Somebody kill me… 90mins in to it... I’m dead – leave me alone!!!

After I cooled down, I drank protein shake…. I was HUNGRY!!! It’s recommended not eating 2 hours before class and since its 90mins… The time I was out… yeah… I was Starving!!! The time I got home… I puked!!! Showered and got up in the middle of the night still had towel wrapped around hair and was still in robe! I guess I was really tired. Next morning… I felt hot and cold… shaking a bit…(thought I was just hungry) went to work anwyays… and ate normal breakfast… Puked…. Had normal snacked puked… left work early… (boss sent me home actually :? ) So the whole weekend I drugged myself and stayed in bed. Didn’t work, didn’t workout, didn’t clean, slept in… OMG it felt so good to sleep in… oh how I miss that….

Anyways… I’m feeling better and finally eating decent meals and going to the gym… lower weights a bit and did light cardio….. at times… I feel like puking here and there but I’m good… No more feeling shaky, no head aches, not feeling hot and cold, no stuffy nose….

I’m going to give Hot Yoga a try again… I didn’t give it a fair try because I felt sick already…. Now I know what to expect when I go there… Besides… It was a special… $10 for 10 consecutive days… and I only went there once… I need to take advantage of it!!!

Have a good week all

I've heard great things about Hot Yoga. husband and I are friends with another couple who has started going to Hot Yoga every Sunday and they love it! We'd love to go, but Sundays are going to be the days for posing lessons.

Let me know what you think of it after you give it a go when you're feeling better!

You're doing awesome, girl! :)

UPDATE: Bikram Yoga (Hot Yoga)

Last night class was pretty good! I didn’t feel sick at all this time around… I felt really good throughout class. Although it was hot and challenging but I didn’t sit out on any of the postures. So… after giving it a second try... it’s a good experience. I’m going again…. I think this Saturday because that’s the last day for $10 special deal. However, I will do a walk in once in awhile but won’t do it on a regular basis.

1) I already have a gym membership…. they also have steam room!
2) I don’t have much time and Thursday is the only time I don’t work at night.
3) It can be expensive… $15 per walk in. $100 for 10 sessions (Not consecutive).

I do enjoy it and will do some walk ins when I feel like I need to give myself a deep stretch. I went in there pretty sore but after class I felt all relaxed and less sore.

There are classes throughout the day… but I like to go to the last class because more parking and don’t to pay for the meters! :P Also, once I’m done with class… I get to go home, shower, and call it a night with a pleasant time in la la land….

Below is Bikram Yoya Postures (26 poses – each is repeated twice 60sec & 30sec)

I think I like #13 the best, especially if I can have pillow and blankie, maybe a good book.
But seriously, I think yoga is great for stretching and flexibility, I should be doing it - helps keep the ole limbs a bit more flexible. :D

Glad to hear you liked it better once you felt good - I may have to give it a try. I am so completely NOT flexible so it would be good for me. Although I would probably look like a fool! Oh well, nothing wrong with that I guess :D

WEEK 8

1) Oatmeal, Eggs
2) Nuts, veggie burger
3) Brown rice, Steam broccoli, Grill chicken breast or fish
4) Cottage cheese, Almond butter
5) Workout - Protein shake
6) Sweet potatoes, Scramble eggs
7) Green Salad, grilled chicken breast, miso dressing

Expressing:
I’m a bit frustrated that I cannot break the 150lbs mark. I’m pretty good with diets and stay pretty close to meals and calories. I exercise really intensely with both heavy weights and intervals for cardio… but why am I struggling???

Well…. I did some research and found 2 reasons that may fit situation:
1) Lack of sleep.
( I only get 5 hours and because I exercise intensely… I should be getting more than 6 hours of rest….)
2) Stress… no comments on that…

I really don’t know how to those things… There might be more reasons to the cause… any opinions???

I usually get only 5-6hr sleep a night as well on weekdays, but I grab a 1hr+ nap in the afternoon. Would I be better off moving that extra hr sleep to nighttime as well, or does it not matter when you sleep or whether you break it up?

From what I have read you should be getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep at one time because sleeping short periods of time you are not getting the REM (rapid eye movement) sleep that you need. This is the most restful part of your sleep.

I remember reading somewhere that it can all add up.

Note: Taking a nap in the afternoon makes you "smarter" check out this article... A study was done.

I have noticed when you post your food you post for the entire week. Do you eat the same thing every day for a week and then change it up for the next week?
