Muscle Builder or Weight Gainer protein powder?

I am a skinny guy with an amazingly fast metabolism, no matter how much I eat just can't get any meat on bones. weight is proper for a guy age but I really want to increase the muscle volume of both arms and chest (because arms look like toothpicks and chest looks like a flat bench). I have being going to gym for about 4 weeks now and arms are looking a little better but muscle volume hasn't increase by much. I was thinking of trying a protein powder to get a little extra help, but I am not sure what kind would be better for condition if a muscle builder protein powder or a weight gainer protein powder? Please can someone tell me what would be the better choice?

Weight Gainer because it also has muscle builder in it aswell (Protein), but also eating high protein meals such as chicken and tuna< basically just increase your protein intake and stick to a good trg regime

You've only bene going for 4 weeks, what could you expect?

Most people need 4-6 weeks just to adapt, so there's no way you could even lift 80%+ of max lifts for reps every week, until at leats the last week.

Stick at it and don't be swayed by supplements right now. You're barely fresh at this, so you have to be more patient and it will work out, as you've said yourself, something is already happening.

Cant go wrong with any protein supp. Its only going to help.

But ya 4 weeks is a very short amount of time to expect anything.

If you want to get bigger your going to have to eat alot. I have ate dinner with alot of skinny guys to know they are skinny because they just dont eat very much. Even when your full to the brim your going to have to eat more.

Protein will help but its no match for a boat load of real food.

Stick with the gym, it takes time. Eat, train, eat, then eat some more and then eat some more. Make sure to get plenty of rest and adequate sleep as well, very important.

I would to a large extent agree with you, however, you can go wrong, if you buy the wrong one and get crappy results, or buy one that's too pricey for the amount of content. Plus if someone has a Soy allergy, Soy protein powders are a no-no. Also Soy may triger Eczema in people who are prone to Eczema.

People with something like a Herpes virus, might get an issue with Protein powders boosted with Arginine. Arginine can make Herpes worse.

Protein powder may be a problem, if the person has a mild undetected Kidney stone problem, as too much protein and / or Red Meat can cause Kidney stones, possibly increasing the Kidney Stone problem that might exist. People with Kidney problems would also get issues with Protein powders that have Creatine in them.

Maltodextrin in some powders may cause a bit of bloat as could Casein ones.

Plus some Herbs may interact with medications, so taking ones wiht Herbs in then, might not be wise. In general they're not wise anyway, because it ramps the price up for effects that aren't worth the added expense, unless those powders worked as well as Steroids, for your 40-50% more money, which they don't.

If there was a possibiltiy of a powder having Caffeine, thne anyone with a mild Heart complaint might get a problem.

Can't think of any more interactions, but in general powders should be okay, but as ever supplements are just that. Don't spend money on stuff, to paper over faults with training and diet, because if you eat for example, 1,600 calories a day, and train with 75% efficiency, a powder is a bum steer for improvement :P.
