been working hard,

Post by dale351 »

For the last 5 months, I have been going to the gym at lunch and working butt off. Have a routine, you know, Monday chest and tris, and so forth. Trying to keep calorie intake down, but, well I am losing absolutley no weight at all. I am getting stronger, getting harder, and more solid; I guess I am asking this, am I working with to much weight or what. I started out at 260, down to 250 or so, but have hit a wall I think. Got to burn fat and cant get it figured out, below is what I am doing,,

Monday - Chest and triceps

Tuesday - 20 min cardio, calves and Abs

Wed. - Back and Biceps

Thusday - 20 min Cadio, Upper legs and Abs

Friday - Shoulders and Abs(all that I can)

Sat and Sunday rest with a little dumb bell work on arms at times,

Watch what I am eating Oatmeal in the morning, can of chicken or tuna for lunch and a lighter than normal dinner :|

Try working your whole body three days a week and High intensity cardio on your non-lifting days. Use your weekends for moderate activity. you need to let your body rest but not stop being active. dont eat less, just eat cleaner smaller meals more often, keeps the meabolism up. Lifting heavy and mixing it with cardio is a great way to burn fat and gain muscle. If your not already start taking a daily multi-vitamin. Make sure you take in enough protein, it will help burn off even more fat.

you said you are getting stronger...

most likely, your muscle is filling in where the fat was. muscle weighs more than fat, so you are probably burning fat, it's just the muscle is replacing the weight.

keep it up

Good workout program.
You may consider doing lower weight and higher reps to burn the muscle. However, you need to eat to fuel the furnace. You have very little carbs in your diet and the body breaks down food into glucose for fuel, proteins don't fuel the body- they are there for repair and muscle building. Add more brown and wild rice, sweet potatoe, and green veggies
Good luck

To some extent though, some of the Amino Acids help with the breakdown or Glycolysis of Carbs after the Glucose stage, to assist in the production of energy providing end products.

Though yes, definitely if Carbs are low more are needed, but don't go overboard, don't add loads of high GI ones in and if you add high GI, consider mixing them with Low GI, to reduce the Glycemic espone, or only have them infrequently.

Loosing fat is more a function of food than exercise. Exercise is a big part of it too but perhaps if fat loss is your goal you need to look harder at your diet. Perhaps drop a few more calories.

for your exercise prog, do your weight sets first then finish with your cardio sessions and make sure you are working at levels that are challenging to do and mix up the machines and type of intensity used.
