I HAVE BEEN DIETING NOW FOR A YEAR. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING FROM SOUTHBEACH TO ATKINS TO COUNTING CALORIES AND WATCHING PORTIONS TO JUST FLAT OUT ALMOST STARVING MYSELF. I AM CURRENTLY TRYING THE BIGGEST LOSER APPROACH AND I'M TRAINING TO RUN IN THE MINI MARATHON IN LOUISVILLE. I AM RUNNING ON THE TREAD MILL FOR 30-45 MINUTES A NIGHT AND BURNING 350-450 CALORIES AND TAKING IN 900-950.
I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE STARTED BY SAYING I AM A CAREER WOMAN WORKING AS A PHYSICAL THERAPIST 10 HOURS A DAY 5 DAYS A WEEK. I HAVE 5 CHILDREN 3 OF WHICH ARE TRIPLETTES. AFTER LAST BABY 3 YEARS A GO I CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE WEIGHT OFF. I GOT DOWN TO 140 AFTER WEIGHING 190 AND NOW I BOUNCE BETWEEN 160-155. I HAVE AN UNDER ACTIVE THYROID WIHICH I TAKE MEDICATION FOR BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO KEEP WEIGHT OFF. I AM AT A COMPLETE LOSE ON WHICH DIRECTION TO GO IN. I THOUGHT DIET AND EXERCISE WORKED FOR EVERYONE. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME OR GIVE ME THE NAME OF SOMEONE WHO CAN TRAINER/DR??????????

Re: CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT
Ahhhhh... why are you yelling at us with your all caps?
Lol! Just kiddin.
900-950 calories is wayyyyyy to few calories. How long have you been doing this? At 900 calories a day you are starving your body and it is going to FIGHT LIKE HELL to hold on to every ounce of fat that you have. You gotta eat to let your body know that its ok to let go of that fat that its stubbornly holding in to in order to survive the upcoming months of starvation (it doesn't know when you're going to start feeding it again).
What does a typical day look like for you as far as meals go?
Are you sure your thyroid medication is the right prescription... not that you're purposely taking the wrong prescription but have you talked to your doctor about this problem?
Have you ever trained with weights?

Re: CAN'T LOSE WEIGHT
Breakfast...eggs and bacon
Lunch......salad w/dressing ( depending on how busy I am at work)
Supper....salad w/dressing or chicken w/brocolli/okra/green beans steamed/steamed vegatable plate (meat-porkchops/steak/chicken/roast)
I've been doing 900-950 calories for about 6 weeks now. I started this when I read to try and take in 500 less calories than your norm. norm was about 1400-1500 and not losing any weight.
I don't do any strength training but Iam definitely not opposed to it. Right now I am only running on the treadmill but will be running outside when the weather permits and Iam also doing zumba 1 or 2 nights a week (depends on schedule).
I take Levoxyl which was prescribed by OB and monitored by family physician.
