You'd be suprised how many people do Cardio, then weights that wouldn't bulk up a mouse very much.

What a waste of 25-30 minutes. I'm not saying all women should bulk, but if you're going to do the weights, either do it well or not at all, because doing 15 reps on a Pec Deck with 3 plates is hardly worth it.

As for the Cancer comment, don't get me started about people who just use sun tan booths, naked without cream or Bronzer :shock: . Oh wait, some people use Wink-eze, so good to know if by some misfortune, they get Cancer later in life, at least they'll still be able to see :roll:.

I hate how women are afraid of weights. I lift as heavy as I can and always try to either lift more reps or more weight. I compete against yesturday's self. The owner of the dojo, a few weeks ago, ask me how much I weighed. I told him and he said I certainly don't look it. He told me that when I took off dogi top that all the guys in the dojo were turning their heads(wearing a tshirt under, get your mind out of the gutter, well, it was formfitting though.). Women cannot 'bulk' up not without the aid of illeagl steroids and the like. You have to want to be bulkie to get bulkie. Muscles are beautiful.

Any sort of muscle gain can be called bulking, it doesn't have to be Steroid related, but yes, to really get massive female muscles, you do need Steroids to some degree.

The machines don't ask enough questions to give an accurate calories burned figure. It would have to ask your age, , and weight at a bare minimum. So there is no question that it is just a number.

But as a number it can be useful.

It is a point of reference.

If one program gives you "300 calories burned in 20 minutes" and another gives you "450" in the same time, then you know that one program is 50% more intense. As a point of reference it is a useful number.

In industry we use similar points of reference. For example as a measure of corrosion resistance we use a standardized "hostile environment" (ASTM B117) and we see how many hours it takes for corrosion to occur. So nickel plating fails in about 20 - 25 hours and zinc plating fails in 92 - 105 hours. How long will they last outdoors? No telling. But you can be sure that the zinc plating will last about 4 times as long as the nickel.

So use the "calories burned" as a reference and you will do fine.

There are plenty of women that are interested in "looking fit" but are adverse to looking muscular (with the exception that they all want 6-pack abs). There is some notion that lots of reps with a light weight will not build muscle, but will gain muscle-tone.

Those women want to look like ballerinas (but not work nearly as hard). Tough sell.
