Good Routine?

Post by rohcky »

I started training a couple months ago and just wanted to see if this routine is good or not.

Tues: Legs (Squats, dead lifts, ham extensions and calf raises)
Weds: Shoulders and arms (Military press, bi/tri/forearm curls)
Thurs: Abs and Obliques (crunches)
Fri: Back (Pull-downs, Pull-ups and rows)
Sat: Chest and traps (Bench press and shoulder shrugs)

Is that a good routine or am I breaking workout down too much and resting the groups for too long?

I've been slowly seeing results, but just wanted to know if I'm on the right track. 24, 5'11", started 145, currently 155.

i would have you do this:

1 - squats, rows, bench, arms, abs

2 - deads, pull ups, shoulder press, arms, abs

even better take out arms and learn 2 olympic type moves such as 1 arm snatches or cleans and do one of them for each day

train tue, thu, sat

Thanks for the advice. The one arm snatch sounds like a good alternative. I'd do cleans, but I workout at home and usually only have a spotter on bench press days.

It's difficult to find a good routine, cause I see so much conflicting advice on this site. The 50 tips article suggested limiting workouts to 45 minutes, which was why I broke down workout to so many days. I'll give your method a try though.
