What's body shape?
For the life of me, I cannot figure out. so where do I fit in! I am curious of which body type I have because I don't know if I can lose/gain fat/muscles easily or not. I just cannot figure it out!
So measurements are (inches):
Neck: 12
Shoulders: 16
Chest: 34
Biceps (mid arm): 10.5
Forearms: 9
Wrist: 6
Waist: 27
Stomach//love-handles...( worst body part!): 32
Hips (around the butt area) 37.5-38
Thighs: 21
Calves: 13
I seem to gain muscles in legs easier than upper body. I recall when I first started doing weights, lower body changed a lot. I was skinny, and got bigger with weights, but I seem to gain a lot of fat in upper body (mostly waist//love handles)..and lastly chest (when I really start to gain weight).
So I am confused. When I did a body analysis, the trainer said I had a body type C, what is that...and i did this online quiz ( ya ya, i know it's all crap...)but I also got a letter "C", saying I'm Meso-Endo:
Body Type C, your body builds and maintains lean muscle easily, which is good because muscle burns fat. Additionally, your metabolism is not as sluggish as several of the other body types - unfortunately, it is still not fast enough to keep you lean. The rate of your metabolism is the primary consideration in how your body gains or loses weight. The good news is: As a Type C, since you have plenty of muscle tissue to help you burn fat fast, once you use your custom eating plan to speed up your overall metabolic rate, you should see results extremely fast and have little trouble keeping the weight off after the program is done.
How can I take advantage of body type, and how do I know what's best for me in terms of diet/exercise program?
And you can see... hips (37.5-38), and thighs (right after butt), is pretty small...That's one leg btw...and I always look like I have SKINNY legs, even though I really don't, but big hips and not so big thighs, makes me looks so...

Re: What's body shape?
you're worrying about things that will have limited bearing on what you're trying to acheive
go and train and cook food
go and train and cook food
Re: What's body shape?
Maybe so. But it's not stopping me from training/diets because it's getting me down or up. I think it's important to know what suits your body and what type of training...you know?swanso5 wrote:you're worrying about things that will have limited bearing on what you're trying to acheive

Re: What's body shape?
Correct but no-one/book/internet quiz can really tell you what is going to work for you 100%. You have to try it for yourself, be patient and I'm sure you'll see the answers for yourself you just have to give it time.skully wrote: I think it's important to know what suits your body and what type of training...you know?
Re: What's body shape?
training suits your body type at this stage
Re: What's body shape?
I completely understand it takes time and a lot of patience, but it's good to know if I need to focus doing one type of exercise more than the other. Or hit muscles in different ways...and stuff.
Re: What's body shape?
you don't have to though that's the point...i don't worry about it, why do you?
Re: What's body shape?
I am a natural worrier. I worry about everything. Little or big. I think knowing more gives me some sort of mental satisfaction; hence less worrying and realistic goals.swanso5 wrote:you don't have to though that's the point...i don't worry about it, why do you?
Re: What's body shape?
worrying increases mental stress
mental stress = cortisol production
cortisol stores fat and burns muscle
now stop worrying

I agree with the swansintor here Skully... you gotta stop worrying and overthinking this stuff. I know it seems complicated, and it can be confusing, however don't make it any more so than it already is.
You're doing great! You're making progress and your attitude is awesome. Just keep doing what youre doing, keep your chin up, stay focused, and you'll get there.
Swanso... Totally off the subject but how'd your month of no carbs go? Did you want to shoot yourself by the end of the month? How much did you lose? Whens the wedding? Ok.. i'm done.

I have a major worrying issues...about everything. It's been pretty much "enemy" through everything. I honestly worry about what I WILL be doing in the end of this year...and all those plans and thoughts are so haunting!
That's why when I get one thing out of mind, it gets easier. Knowing what I can and cannot do. What is realistic and what is not. Otherwise, I'll keep on worrying. That's just me. Even until today... semester starts on Sunday, and I am still unsure and worried about a couple of courses! god brain hurts!
Wow, isn't 7kgs in about a month too much, but does carbs really affect that much??? Did you stop eating ALLLLLLL carbs? Or did you have VERY little carbs?lost 7.5kgs in 28 days and 8cms off i've which i've popped 2cms back on (bulking now so eating everything)

Girl you gotta stop worrying so much! I used to be the same way. When I was 18-22 I had MAJOR worrying issues... to the point that I started getting horrible stomach aches and ulcers. I would worry about school, work, homework, friends, boyfriends.. anything that I could worry about i would. It eventually started effecting job and college studies because I was so sick by the end of the day (I was literally worrying myself sick) that I could barely function. No joke. I was a mess. I found that writing stuff down helps... I would write down to do lists in order of importance so that i knew what I needed to get done and when. This would also help to get everything that needed done out of head and on paper. When its on paper it doesn't seem as overwhelming. I would right down what was bothering me and i would talk to people about the things i was worrying about to put things in perspective.. this helped too. Since then I've relaxed ALOT (possibly too much! LOL!) and life is so much more enjoyable. Try to put things in perspective and realize that the VAST MAJORITY of the things you're worrying about really don't need to be worried about. Worrying and overthinking things only makes life more complicated then it needs to be. Relax girlfriend!!

Yeah 7ks in a month is not recommended for the average Joe. Swanso is a personal trainer and is VERY knowledgable about this stuff... however for the average person slow and steady weight loss with a balanced diet and exercise routine is the way to go.skully wrote: Wow, isn't 7kgs in about a month too much, but does carbs really affect that much??? Re: What's body shape?
Oh cassie...you have NO idea how hard it is for me NOT to worry. That's like almost impossible. I cannot not worry. I'm in that stage of life where I literally worry about everything, time (especially time!), money, school, jobs...and a whole bunch of things. I've always been a stressed out a person because I live in a VERY stressed out environment...and those stomach aches you mentioned...well, hello! I had those EVERYDAY....now occasionally, not always or so much...
I used to write before, it never helped me honestly. Hell I was on medication and THAT didn't help me either. I do tend to complicate things further. Ask anyone who knows me...and they'll say two things: time-freak & big-worrier.
I would still like to know whats body type *sniff sniff*

Lol, I know that. Even if I starved myself (which I would never do or did) I wouldn't lose 7kgs in one month =P. Nah...Actually I'm not losing weight AT ALL, I've been stuck at weight for over 3 weeks now. I think it might be because I gained some muscles. I'm ALMOST positive I gained 1kgs of muscles, because boy, biceps are much stronger than they ever been. I actually feel them when I flex hand and stuff, unlike before, they were much smaller!Yeah 7ks in a month is not recommended for the average Joe.
