Creative ways to eat more protein

Post by skully »

What are the creative ways you add more protein in your diet (w/o eating some sort of meat, chicken...etc, every meal!)

How do you eat your cheese, in the sense it's not high in calories as it usually has a lot of fat/calories...

I really want to figure a way I can eat more protein w/o constantly eating meat every meal! (which I can never do)

Please, no more eggs! I can barely eat 2 eggs the whole day.

So what protein sources with at least 10grams? And low in calories? Yes, I know Cottage Cheese, but I only eat it with a turkey sandwich...and have no idea how to eat it otherwise!

Help?

I just bought string cheese. How do you eat them? Plain and cold? Cook them...any ideas? they have about 6grams of protein...and 50cals..

Nuts aren't really that high in protein. 15grams of peanuts is like...3g of protein or within that range.

I honestly...don't know what soy is, but I have a soy protein shake.

Me no like beans.

Legumes (I usually have hummus quite often), not sure how much protein I am getting from it. I usually have it in a mini plate. Sort of like the size of a palm.

I wouldn't go for peanuts. They really arent the best of nuts. Go for almonds and walnuts instead.

Do you just not like all beans?

Ever tried putting chickpeas into a salad?

Also, you can get whole grain bread fortified with protein. One peice has about 7 grams. Have two in the morning with some nut butter, like almond butter, and you have a good protein packed breakfast.

Also, lentils, quinoa, and couscous are other good ways to get meatless protein. I usually have quinoa or couscous instead of pasta.

Not to be rude but they're actually Legumes. Thye might be more of a problem regards mould and Aflatoxins if they're Asian grown, but shouldn't be too bad if they're western grown and they are more Protein rich than Nuts are, plus they do contain good fat and Carbs, Carbs being something a lot of Nuts fail to have Almonds being one such source, though Almonds are a good source of quality.

As for the cottage cheese, there are a couple things you can do with it. You can use it in place of yogurt in a shake to increase protein. Mix some frozen fruit, cottage cheese, and water (even throw in some protein powder, but pay attention to how many calories you're throwing in).

You can also use cottage cheese as a dip for veggies, with celery or carrots. You can mix in some fruit. You can put it on a salad. Experiment and see what you like.

(Boss Man, I don't know if any of these conflict with each other if mixed together, feel free to correct any of that)

And ilurvebroccoli's suggestion of quinoa or couscous in place of pasta is great. They both taste great and offer some more protein in your meal plan.

I do ALL kinds of stuff with cottage cheese to get more protein. I mix it into chili, mix into taco salad, mix it with fresh chopped tomato with a little salt/pepper, mix it into spagetti....it's so flavorless that it won't clash with the flavors of your foods, so as long as the texture is right for what you're eating, you won't really even notice it's there ;)

Don't know if these are great ideas or not....but that's what I find myself doing. Just sayin'.
