It's not a happy experience, lack friends, and a lot bunch of crap. I am so confused about how to manage timings and between "two" gyms, and if I shouldn't go to one of the gyms at all.
I really like going to Fitness First because they offer all of these different classes, of which some I like, and can add a flavor from time to time to workouts, downside...the gym is a smaller one, because it's females only and is in a mall. They have decent equipment, just not all that I need, or "enough dumbbells" for more than 2 people at a time! Which truly sucks.
This is probably a hassle...but I need to vent and think it through!!!
While the gym at the university has ALL of the equipment you need, over 20 cardio machines, over 20 strength training machines, and a lot of dumbbells, AND A SWIMMING POOL...which I don't go to actually, but I think I just add one day of swimming for fun between 3 long hour break.
Thing is: I always go to the gym at 10 a.m. for weights. Every Sun/Tue/Thur...do you think body probably adapted to it, and thus nothing has changed much back then? Now since I've been changing routine, doing different things constantly, I do see a lot of improvement in a shorter time period as opposed to before.
So here is over all prons and cons to all:
Fitness First:
Pros
- They have really cool classes, of which I enjoy!
- I feel more motivated because there is life in the gym
- They have a body analysis machine
- Trainers would check up one you and tell you how to do the exercise better
Cons
- It's a small gym that gets pretty crowded to an extent
- Sometimes I want to use free weights, but there are only 2 sets of each and can't always find them
- I have to pay about $150 a month (WHICH IS REALLY NOT BAD AT ALL...but look at the pros for uni gym)
- I am not sure I'll be getting the worth of the money I am paying because I may be able to attend the gym 3-4 times a week, if not less.
-------------------------
Uni gym:
pros
- I don't have to pay for the gym monthly, but a $35 for compulsory activity fee for the whole semester (part of the tuition basically, which IS A LOT)
- They have a lot of equipment that is very good for weights. The gym is actually two gyms (one for cardio and one for weights).
- We have a swimming pool, which is cool, but realistically speaking, I went once only because I am shy.
cons
- I'm not as motivated when I go to uni's gym because...I always worry about reaching university on time, finding a parking, walking a long distance back and forth...I tend to spend more time worrying about "time" as in usual. I'm a time-freeeaaaaak.
- In the summer the walks gets really tiring because the heat goes up to 40-50C around April-May...yep...and WORSE afterwards. The reason WHY I stopped going to the gym around may last year
- The trainer is never attending the gym.
- There is no scale I can use.
- The gym has no life! There is like only 2-4 people working at time. I like privacy actually, but there is no life.
So I was thinking I would go back and forth between the gyms for 3 months or so and see how I can incorporate them both into schedule.
So here is an IDEA of how classes are like, and when and to which gym I plan to go to for the next 3 months: Keep in mind uni is in another city, a 40 minutes drive
Sunday: Class at 12 p.m. only (UNI gym: Weights since I have free time later in the day, and not be "lazy", I may go to bodyjam or bodybalance classes in the late afternoon at FF. OR...go for body pump in the late afternoon w/o morning gym?
Monday: Classes are hectic so I may have to skip exercise all together. Class starts at 11:00 a.m.-12:15, break, 2:00-3:15, 3:30-6 p.m. IF I could OR have ANY energy left. I would go for body combat at 7:45 at FF
Tuesday: As Sunday, weights in the morning at uni's gym, and body combat + Abs (which I never tend to workout much) in the late afternoon.
Wednesday: Cardio day, either Adidas combat, which was OK, not like body combat, but most likely HIIT workout for 25 minutes or so, with some floor workout for hips, butt, pushups (non-weights).
Thursday: Tricky situation...Classes are at 12:00 p.m. and 4:00-6:30....I could either wake up early to go for uni's gym and do weights or could do weights + IF I FELT LIKE IT...which is going to be 5% of the time (20 minutes swimming).....in those 3 hours break (1 being for lunch/snack).
Friday: OFF!
Saturday: Depends on the mood: HIIT, Body Attack, Elliptical at the gym.
Ahh...what a confusion. current program is more based on Sat/Mon/Wed for weights, but it's more "suitable" for me to do focus on weights on S/T/Thur as I always have, as I've gotten used to it, and seem to work schedule with it.
I so need some help....
1) Should I stick to two gyms?
2) Does the days I do weights/cardio overtime make any difference in seeing results or it's more about the program/diet?
3) I may not be able to do half of what is mentioned up there (especially the cardio parts), because uni + long hours + long drives = tiresome!
I truly like going to FF for classes, but is it worth it if I go only 3 times a week or so for 3-4 hours in total? Money is an issue.
initial plan was to start and stop when uni starts, and resume in the "hot" season and just go fully to FF, but I am excited and enjoying time there...it's different, and I like it...
Ahhhhhhhh

Wow, I just ranted so much... brain is fried and it's 3 a.m., way past bed time..UNI always does this to me. Stress me over things I shouldn't be stressed about, and here I go have to figure eating patterns/timings, too!
Boy, I'm off to sleep. Darn it!
