Totally new to this

Post by Chunkybratcher »

I have sadly gotten to a point in life where I know I need to excersise or life will literally be in danger. I weigh 330 and I am 6 feet 3 inches tall. I figure I want to start with Cardio first. I want to be consistant yet continue to challenge myself. question is how long and how often should I excersise and how should I progress to make those workouts harder example I walk a mile a day for 6 days rest on day 7 should I then walk a mile and a half a day for the next week. Some day I want to lift weights but I am not there yet.

20 minutes sounds like a good start - looking foward to starting on Monday. I am going with the assumption that I should rest at least 1 day a week is this an accurate assumption. what type of arobic excersise would you recomend I start with. I don't want to get discouraged early on, I have acsess to a gym so anything is possible. How many days should i let pass by before I increase the work out, or a better question. How will I know it's time to increase workout?

Don't knock weights. You don't have to aim to be a power lifter. Just some basic exersices that will make your muscles strong. Muscle not only burns fat at rest, it will help you do more through out the day. Don't have weights? You could get those bands or tubes at walmart for a few dollars and follow the exersices in the box or even search you tube. Everyone needs resistance training IMHO if you want to lose weight.
