quad exercises with limited rom

Post by ilurvebroccoli »

Hello. So I am getting surgery on hip in feb. I need to up muscles and strength before then so that its easier to recover from surgery. So, I know I need to work on quads. However, I have very little range of motion in hip without it popping (there's a bone formation on the socket). So I need some quad exercises that would be easy to do at home, with little weight. I don't have anything other than resistance bands, some weights, and stairs.

Also, what are the best core strengthening exercises? I've heard that crunches really don't do much unless you do a crapload of them. Any ideas?

Thanks guys.

Leg extensions on a leg extension machine isolates on the quads and does not involve the hip to any great degree. I would ask your doctor is that is an acceptable exercise.

won't affect the hips but it won't do the knees any favours either

As long as you don't exceed the normal range of motion and work within your poundage capabilities I would not think this would be harmful, especially as it is a short range training schedule.
