Well, the school just called... daughter is sick too. We're gonna take it easy tonight. Maybe a good movie and some homemade chicken noodle soup! :)

Yeah, that's the lovely thing about colds...they make your brain all smushy-mushy! Thanks for pointing out brain-toot Bossman! ;) Turns out the whole fmily has the crud, so we're gonna rest and relax in style as a family with homemade chicken noodle soup and a nice family movie. A little couch time and we'll all be back in tip-top shape!

On a different note, husband had his first personal training appointment tonight (turns out I am rubbing off on him a bit), but it was cancelled due to a broken pipe at the gym. Gotta say I love the cold and clear weather in lieu of rain, but BOO~HISS!!! for broken pipes! hubby probably needs to rest with the rest of us anyways!

I'm feeling better! Hooray! It's amazing how much quicker I get over the crud now that I have been working out and minding diet! I am taking another day off today as I won't have time for a workout due to work obligations and our company Christmas party tonight. However, I do have a personal training appointment tomorrow at 11 am provided the pipes don't freeze at the gym...

Baby it's cold outside!

Update:

Friday was legs day. The trainer discovered that hamstrings are much stronger than quads. With our goal being symetry, her recommendation is that we keep the weights where they are on the hammies, and try to beef up the weights on the quads to create balanced legs. It was a light workout, or at least it felt that way though she may just be testing body to see where strengths and weaknesses are.

I took the weekend off, but we had our annual Christmas party on Saturday whereby about 50+ of our closest friends came over for dinner and a white elephant gift exchange. In preparation I probably did more than fair share of cardio with all the cleaning, errands and cooking. It was a fabulous dinner and everyone had a great time!

Monday I met with the trainer for chest day. Again a light feeling workout, though she is challenging me with 'forced reps'. She figured I would be sore today, but I'm not. Yay! Tonight is cardio on the elyptical. I have a new book, Girl on Top that I am looking forward to starting while I do cardio! (It's a career success book...keep your mind outta the gutter, people!!!)

Tomorrow, Wednesday is back, lat and bicep day...I love back workouts, and I think this time the trainer won't be *SO* nice to me....

LMAO! I was wondering what kind of TRASH you were reading!.. I was also wondering if i could borrow the book when youre done but if its about career stuff i'm not interested. LOL! I crack myself up.

I'm sitting here listening to miss piggy and kermit the frog sing a christmas carol on the radio. Wonder what on earth i did to deserve this torture?

Ok back to work.

Never been a fan of Forced Reps. Some people like it, but personally I feel if I'm not able to do something under own steam, I've no business trying. body has such limits for a reason.

It's never told me what they are, but after 10+ years of training, I trust body enough not to need to ask

I actually like the forced reps quite a bit...it's challenging because trainer only helps me as much as I *need* her to. I must think they are fun, in fact, because when the weight gets to being hard for me to push, I get the giggles something fierce. Has anyone else ever had that problem? LOL! Seeing face contort the way it does in the mirror when I am pushing challenging weights is just something that makes me burst out with uncontrollable laughter! ;) Or maybe I'm just a freak of nature...

Agreed on the need her to part. Forced reps should only happen, when you're practically fatigued. No tag teaming, by going forced on all reps, as that's just robbing someone of much of the effort they give..

Try to focus on your form not your facial expressions. If you're focusing on your facial expressions you may not be 100% focused on the task at hand and you could actually injure yourself if your trainer wasn't paying full attention and you ended up dropping the weight on yourself. Also, its important to watch your form to make sure youre doing the lifts correctly.. this is especially important when youre first starting out and learning the proper form. If youre not watching your form you could develop some improper lifting habits that could very well stick with you in the future. best advice... just try to focus a little better and I think you'll find it easier to remain serious throughout the workout.

Youre doing awesome chica!

(yesterday) Wednesday: Back day

I had a great weight workout with trainer on Wednesday afternoon. I am pretty anxious to get in with her in the mornings after the first of the year though, because I love starting mornings with a great workout. We talked about the upcoming competition and the competition diet I will be on beginning after I return from New Year's vacation (we're going snowboarding - yippee!!) on January 4th. The closer January 4th looms nearer, the realization that I am about to drastically change lifestyle starts to sink in. I think I will be ready though! I feel so fortunate to have an incredible support from all family, trainer, friends and shapefit friends. It won't be an easy journey, but it will be a very rewarding one for sure.

I am going to start including cardio in daily routine now, starting first with 30 minutes and working way up to 60 minutes per day by January 4th. Reading while workout out on the elyptical has proved to help ward off boredom and I am able to do something I enjoy while getting work done. I have a feeling I will be reading a lot of book over the months ahead!

Gosh...I could really go for a big plate of fudge right now...but a chocolate flavored protein shake is going to have to do the trick!
