this is own opinion and take it as that its based on only a few articles read on it

yoga is stretching and not dynamic stretching either its static holds in some positions. id like to say first i believe in dynamic stretching esp before a workout to prevent injury and to warm you up but the static stretching is bad in mind i feel it can promote injury as most people dont know when to stop stretching or when is far enough and in these large classes nobody is telling you actually how far to push. I like some light static stretches too sometimes after workout jsut to keep some flexibility good and so im not ridgid but i believe you should have a trainer or someone with training teach you one on one to do it properly before diving into a yoga class

esentially i dont like yoga haha

I actually like yoga. Not sure which one I was doing. It was HOT in there, like 95 degrees. I also used to follow along with yoga from the TV too. I think it was on oxygen, very early in the morning. I gained strength and flexibility from it. Most teachers will give you a free class, so go try them all and see what you like best. Ask questions about their styles.

yoga promotes far too much mobility at joints that require stability (e.g. lumbar spine)

Yoga is a wonder of a exercise. It Keeps you Fit, healthy and with simple and some very complex movement. Me no Yoga guru but I have been there and done that.

Basic yoga does not cause any damage to any joint if you do it properly you can't over do it like weight-lifting or just keep on doing it like cardio.

even a 60 year old man with the yoga can do a full split, flips and what not.

yea yoga doesnt guarantee slimness but it does guarantee in keeping your body young from inside gives you that extra stability.

The most awesome thing was there was 1 teacher like in mid 30s who bend backwards and almost touch the ground and there were like bunch of 16 to 25 year old young people who could not even see the ceiling above and some could not get to even a 45 degree kinda angle.
