back pain while runnig?

Post by karrots216 »

I have been running on and off over the past 6 or 7 months, I stick with it for a few weeks and then I cant take the lower back pain anymore. The past few weeks haven't been so bad but the pain is still there. I have been working on core and watching form however the pain persists. Any advice would be great!

It might be an issue with incomplete Core conditioning. If you were doing stuff that trained the Abs, and then didn't do stuff like Deadlifts or other lower Back strengthening exercises, you might create a slight problem, with lack of Lumbar and Sacral support for the Abs.

If you were running and the movement caused any Abdominal compression on the Spine, with inadequate conditioning that I mentioned, it could be causing pain if you were creating small deviations in the structuring of the Vertebrae or Spinal column.

If it was just a nervous issue, like compression, or deformation of natural positioning, I'd expect it to manifest itself in other ways, during daily activity, plus some sort of tear would probably cause discolouration of the area.

here's a crazy thought?

how about stopping running?

why do people keep doing things that hurt them?

you don't have to run and i strongly suggest you don't

here's your problems:

weak core
weak glutes
limited ankle mobility
limited hip mobility
tight quads
tight hip flexors
glutes that don't work
overactive lower back
pelvis instability

to name a few

I agree with swanso, I tried the couch to 5k program and was miserable and in pain. After a while I quit, and felt like a quitter, i refocused on other conditioning. Months went by. I was doing karate and kickboxing as well as weight training. trainer told me that I needed to run to improve endurance. Grudgingly I woke the next morning determined to run for 2 minutes straight, I ran for 10. Not only did I run for 10, I didn't hate it, and I felt good. A couple days went by and tried again. The plan was to just go an extra 30 seconds, but instead I did an extra 4 minutes, took a walk, and then ran for 10 more minutes. I can run 34 minutes now.
