Onions for breathing?

Post by xBrawlerx »

So I was talking to buddy and he said he heard that onions really help with opening up your breathing passage. I was just wondering if this is true and if so how long does it take until you see a change or it is a very very slight change in breathing?

It's possible I suppose, bearing in mind some people have watery eyes when they cut them up.

The main reason for that, is probably because the Tear Ducts are connected to the Nasal cavity, hence you often get watery Eyes coupled with a snotty Nose, when you have a cold.

So perhaps the vapours off an Onion, stimulate the Tear ducts to become more Lacrimose, although Onions are only the Catalyst for watering Ees, when you cut them a certain way anyway.

So perhaps Onions do have an effect on the Nasal passage / Cavities, but I couldn't adequately tell you what if any.

I don't know about onions, but I've found that if you boil
crushed red pepper leaves, you start sneezing instantly. It
really clears up your nasal passages.

If you don't believe me, try it out.

Wouldn't be nice though would it having a plate full of food, with a light dressing of Snot. Probably a source of extra calories you could do without
