Question about weights while losing weight.

Post by Kubik »

I've been bulking up for the past three months or so, and am going to start to cut down. But I have a couple of questions about nutrition and weights while I'm doing this. weight program is as follows
Day 1-Chest
Day 2-Back
Day 3-Triceps
Day 4-Biceps
Day 5-Shoulders

Every day I'll throw in abs or legs or stuff like that. But with cutting down I want to make sure I'm not burning muscle, so what is the best way to do that. Like when should I eat in relation to training, when should I do weights and when should I run, because I want to be able to still have muscle growth, but lose fat.

Also, I'm 5'11 180-185ish, I just really want to cut down on torso fat.

you'll need to train squats and deadlifts for sure..you won't have to cut caloreis as drastically as you think if you think long term...in fact just probably replace breads, pasta, rice and cerials with veg, salads and fruiots and you'll be eating better and your calories will drop as well but the volume of food swill still be the same...i would go to a 3 day a week full body program using compound exercises only but a different mix each day

1 - squats, bent row, db bench press, pulldown

2 - power cleans, seated cable rows, shoulder press, stiff legged deadlifts

3 - deadlifts, db row, bench press, pull ups

do each day as a circuit 3 x 10 x 3 weeks increasing wt when you can than 4 x 10 for 3 weeks...also on a saturday do 10 x 100m sprints with 30 - 45secs walking rest in between and you'll lose easily 1/2% of bdyfat a week...over 10 weeks that 5% which is excellent

Is there anything in particular I should do in the off days? I'm just so used to being busy and im really motivated, I could do weights every day, I'm just so used to doing 4-5 exercises each day on a different part. So only those four exercises a couple times a week? Will those also ensure that I'm not losing muscle along with it? Sorry for all the questions, just never really done this before. :D

So just those and cardio really?

the exercises listed for each day will stumulate every muscle in the body and it won't be as easy as it looks if done properly...stick to the rest periods and the sooner you cvan get the right wts for each day the better and increase them after the very first time you get all the sets and reps at a certain wt with the smallest wt increase you can
