Feeling more bulky than feminine- wanting to slim down

Post by heidi_sweetclover »

I am tired of having "man" arms now. Seems like even the maintenance training on arms causes them to grow. I don't know if I should drastically lower wieght training for arms and go with more cardio or what!

I curl a 40lb bar appx 3-4 sets of 10-12...tri's I'll usually add a 10lb plate to lap when doing dips (again 3 sets of 12-15). Of course this isn't whole routine...but just to give an idea of weight and reps. 2...MAYBE 3x a week. Cardio...generally about an hour 5-6 days a week, and I try to mix it up.

I just want to look more feminine, and to have arms slim down without suffering too much atrophy.

Any ideas appreciated

Hey girl. Definitely don't stop lifting weights. At 5'4 and 125 I have a hard time believing that your arms are "manly" looking. Do you feel like your arms are too muscular or do you feel like you need to shed fat on them? I'm a little confused. Whatever you do, definitely don't stop lifting weights. Weight lifting has so many benefits and, as katie said, to stop would definitely not help at all.

Try this.

Remove 10 grams of Carbs from each meal, (40 calories), add 4 grams of Fat back in, (36 calories), so you create a small energy deficeit, which must be fulfilled with fat.

This means from a 6 meal a day strategy, you will be shedding 24 calories only, so pretty much maintaining a maintenance level.

Certainly strong Arms are good, so don't sacrifice them. Especially if you coupled the strength with something like Boxing skills or a basic level of martial arts. The 2 things might just one day protect you in a bad situation.

We cannot actually see what you're talking about, but I'm sure it isn't quie like you're saying it :).
