Boxing - how old is too old?

I'm 27 years old and want to start getting into boxing.

Am I too old to start or is it considered one of those sports that you can start at any age? I have dreams of maybe one day competing in a tournament. Is that dreaming too much?

I'm pretty fit as it is so fitness isn't a problem for me.
