Is it possible for me to get hourglass shape back? As a teenager and young adult I had a tiny waist and big boobs and hips, I am now 36 and have had a child and am much thicker around the waist but as I have had a tiny waist before does that mean I could potentially with hard work have it again or unlikely? I know natural shape is an hourglass so will that have changed, it still is an hourglass but not as defined if you know what I mean!
Thank you so much for your reply. As of today I have started to really clean diet up again after a few months of eating fairly badly. I was doing heavy weights sessions at home but have injured knee so as of today I have started Jillian's 30 Day Shred, knee did twinge but nothing like it does when I squat/lunge with heavy dumbbells. I try and eat 5 or 6 small meals a day with protein at each meal, todays menu is oats with blueberries and a scoop of protein powder, snack of an apple with peanut butter, lunch was chicken breast with mixed green leaves, avocado, olives, onion and salsa (from a jar I'm afraid!) I will have a snack on a boiled egg and a piece of fruit this afternoon and tonight I am having a small steak, brocolli, cauliflower and green beans. I do drink a lot of decaf coffee though try and change it up for green tea and I drink about 3 litres of water but as I said this is first day back on track though I ate like this for about 4-5 months and only lost 4lbs but body lost so much fat so I hope it will work again! problem is since I had daughter 3 years ago I definitley carry more fat around the middle, I think it is tightening up but it is such a slow process whereas before I had her it would be the first place to slim down! I am very happy to hear I can get back again with work, you made day I could kiss you for that

(That's fine. Although most Fruits, don't digest too well with other foods, so give the Blueberries about 10-15 minutes to start digesting, then eat the rest of the food)
snack of an apple with peanut butter,
(You need more Protein in ther. You could have things like low Fat cheese, or switch the PB for actual Peanuts, as a couple of examples.)

(That's not really a problem. That meal seems fine.)

(You don't need fruit in the PM, so you could switch it for something like Beans, or a Whole-grain Sandwhich, or some Veggies as examples, plus Beans will incease your Protein consumption, which is something you could consider here.)

I've known many women who joined gyms and looked pretty hopeless when they started and looked like teenagers after 18 months of hard training.
The quick answer is you can look terrific if you pay attention to your diet and you train regularly.
The main issue is the 18 month time frame. If you try to accelerate the process there is a high likelihood that you will over-tire yourself and give up on the project. Take your time and let your body adapt to the new regimen.

Packard, I could wait 18 months, I guess it would mean I would get progressively better while getting there!
Absolutely. Here is the time line:
1 - 3 months: You will notice the difference
3 - 5 months: Your husband will notice the difference
5 - 7 months: Close friends and relatives will notice
7 - 9 months: Acquaintances will notice
9 - 12 months: Strange men will admire you from afar
12 - 15 months: Frequent cat calls from construction workers
15 - 18 months: Purchase 1st can of pepper spray to keep away the most aggressive of the suitors
When I started training for competition I was noticing changes in the first month. By 1.5-2 months fiance was noticing. program was somewhat intense, however I had been working out religiously and eating a healthy balanced diet before starting the competition training so body wasn't as "shocked" as one new to training and dieting would be. Not trying to disagree with packard by any means, however katkins I want to point out that you don't necessarily have to wait for 3 months before you begin seeing results. When you change your diet you could possibly feel and look pounds lighter in just a few weeks simply from increased fiber intake, decreased sodium, increased water, and possibly even changes in food. For example when I cut wheat out of diet I immediately looked and felt 5lbs lighter as I was no longer bloated all the time. Now I'm surely not saying you need to cut out wheat (evidently i have a mild intolerance to it) but showing an example how a simple change in diet can drastically change the way you look and feel.
no" waiting" if you want results you earn them every day.
I think what she meant Oscar, was waiting 18 months for the results to finally come, through hard work, instead of expecting to eat and train hard and transform almost overnight, which won't happen.
I would think the only people who wanted to commit to lifestyle changes, that postponed them for 18 months, would only do that, if they had possibly had a serious accident and wouldn't be able to do those things for a long time, until they'd successfully rehabbed some.
I was trying to be amusing with time line. I just wanted to point out that this is a progression and different people will notice at different points on that progression. As they say, "Your results may vary".

Youre right... results may vary. I just didn't want her to think that she was going to have to put in 5 long hard months before her husband noticed changes. Thats a long time to be working without noticing results and could be a bit discouraging for somebody just getting started.
