Hi. I am well aware that when it comes to wieghts training, more of the same is not always beneficial ie. The body gets used to the weights I am doing, so I have to find new ways of shocking it for further muscle growth. I have been following a 4-6 week programmes, but as with most programmes, I find that i achieve great benefits from week one to three, then workouts plateau quite quickly after. Are there any routines you know that are flexible for change, yet keep a rigid outline.
Also, would you know of any great weight lifting routines(not body building but more power lifting). I think body is sick of body building!
Be careful of plateaus, they aren't always training related. I myself used to go through phases where I'd plateau, and try something new for about 4-6 weeks sometimes 8, and when that didn't do much, I'd try something else, and all the time it was having in inadequate Protein or calorie intake.
So I always say to someone who plateaus, don't take it for granted it's muscle adaption from the workout, take it as a sign you might need more or better nutrition.
I think if someone in that instance was plateauing due to nutrition, having say a 10%-20% increase in Calories, from one or more Macronutrient sources, would reveal if indeed the diet was at fault, far faster than a new routine, so I think it would take less time, to work out if the change in diet was working, compared to a change in workouts.
Then obviously if the diet wasn't giving adequate muscle growth yield, then couple it with a new workout, but to isolate the cause or a plateau, I always stress diet before new workouts, as I feel you'll know the answer faster, changing diet than routine.
try westside for skinny bastards by joe defranco...it rotates exercises every 3 - 4 weeks anyway...i'm actually part of it now for the second time...and no you don't have to skinny to do it like someone has said before
