Whey and Hemp Protein
So I was in Whole Foods the other day and I was talking to this really hot whole body person. I admit I used to work there and I know she had a crush on me, haha anyways she was telling me about Whey Protein and why it is so good for you. Then she showed me the hemp protein and that seemed legit too. I was trying to listen to her words and stop day freaming about her, lol. So after she was done telling me about them I didn't want to say" what? well cause then I would just seem rude. Anyone know about either of these proteins and why they are good for you? Also hope you enjoyed the great detail i went into. hahahah
Whey Protein makes up 30% of Milk. It is created during the conversion of Milk to cheese.
It takes about 3 hours to digest, and is quite fast absorping, therefore for things like Post-workout nutrition, it makes it a very good thing to have, when you need to assist the muscle with growth and / or recovery.
Hemp is the second highhest concentrated source there is.
Soybeans are 33% Protein, Hemp is 25%, then I think it's Beef at about 18%.
I don't know much about Hemp protein powders, but I would summise, Hemp may well yield more protein per tub, as it occurs in higher percentages than practically any other protein source.
So you might find a 500g tub, gives you more Protein for your 500g, than other Proteins could, allowing for the fact that some Protein powders do have a bit of Carb and a few fillers, like high Glycemic Sugars etc etc, you still might find a higher proportion of the 500g in a Hemp protein powder, is Hemp protein, as opposed to some other powders that contain things like Vegetable, Casein, Egg and possibly Soy based sources.
I would say either or will do, I don't think there is any specific difference in the two. The main differences would be whether one has a Creatine added to it, perhaps more Glutamine, or a higher value Glycemic Sugar content, (Simple Carbs), to give you a bigger Blood Sugar spike, post workout etc etc.
Gram for gram, Hemp compared to Whey is probably not much different I should imagine, so it then goes on brand, and other additional ingredients in them.
