Demotivated

Post by mail2kanika »

I have been working out for last 3 months almost 4-5 days a week. I have just lost 2.5 Kgs and minimal inch loss. I am not following a very strict diet but I have given up all junk food, fried food, sweets etc.. I eat simple home made food. There have been one off days when I slipped and did a little cheating but it was really little...

I dring 3 to 3.5 litres of water a day...
workout is a mix of cardio and weights...

I am really demotiveted now...I still have around 12 Kgs to loose...

im no expect but you are exactly in the same situation i was in when i joined the forum. i know first hand how frustrating it can be. it might be helpful to go thru the diet and nutrition threads. that was where i made biggest mistakes. i was starving body and not eating enough protein.when i started her i was eating a mere 1200 to 1500calories a day.i thought it was enough. im still not where i should be with intake but im taking baby steps.

more experienced forumites will give their valuable inputs,in the meantime DONT worry help is on the way.lol.their first question will be what is your diet like?so it will be helpful to write down what you eat and when?

Think of it this way... How long did it took you to gain those pounds? awhile now...
Can't expect it to go away that fast! :P
Next time before you slip... think of how hard it was for you to work it off.

I agree with the Diet... It's VERY IMPORTANT for weight loss...
Post what you're eating? You know... the homemade meals if you can?
Althought it's homemade... it doesn't mean... it's healthy... unless its steam veggies? Grilled chicken breast?...etc...

Also.. since you are working out a lot... make sure you're eating enough.
Sometime... If you don't eat enough.. it can be counter productive.

I know there will be some tough times... but you can't give up now...
It's a slow and frustrating process if your think it that way...
That's why people say it's a life style change... Try to enjoy those changes.

Keep it up girl.. you can do it.... :D

Here's diet

6:30 AM A fruit (15 minutes before workout)
8:30 AM Protein shake after workout

10:AM Oats or 2 slice of bread with chicken ham for breakfast

12:30 PM another fruit an hour before lunch

2 PM Lunch - 2 -3 slice of bread with veggies or pulses (not steamed but cooked with little oil)

4:30 PM late afternoon snack - another fruit and maybe coffee

7 PM - Dinner (2 slice of bread with veggies)

saturday sunday I am at home so I eat fewer meals...like 2 meals a day.

Honestly I do belive that all the work will pay at some point...but earlier whenever I have tried to loose weight I have given up as it didn't show results...this time I am quite determined and keep talking to you guys will keep me motivated :)

3 to 3.5 litres of water

bed time - another fruit..

If you have already lost 2.5 kgs then you're making progress! You might try taking a few progress pics... then about once a month or so take more pictures so you can look back and see how far you've come in the last month. I recently trained for and competed in a couple of figure competitions and progress pictures helped immensly in keeping me motivated. It was so much fun to take pictures and go back and see how much progress i'd made each month. On the months when I saw lots of progress it inspired me to keep working so i could see how much progress i could make in the next month. In the months where i saw little progress it inspired me even more and showed me that I either needed to step it up a notch or change routine. Don't think of this process as how far you have to go... just take it one day at a time and celebrate the small successes like a great workout or a perfect diet day (a day when you hit all of your diet goals). It can be overwhelming when you look at the big picture. Honestly i think this is the reason why so many obese people have such a hard time changing their lives.. there is so much to change that they just don't know where to start. Keep in mind that a journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step. Also keep in mind that there will be times in the journey where you get side tracke and progress stalls... sometimes it will keep like your taking a step back for every two steps forward.. however two steps forward and one step back is still progress so keep on going and you will meet your goals. We'll be here every step of the way to offer advice, help you along, and pick you up when you get down. Let us help you and love yourself enough to be helped and help yourself. You can do this!!!

PS: Saturday and Sunday you need to eat atleast 5 or 6 smaller meals. Only eating 2 meals on these days is not going to cut it. You are honestly setting yourself up for failure because you're most likely either eating: 2 HUGE meals which is never a good idea or you are not eating enough so that by Monday you will be more likely to overeat. Stick to the same plan all week long. Its about quality not quanity... in other words focus on healthy balanced meals and foods instead of drastically cutting calories.

Hope this helps!

Other than night...fruits are okay in the day. I am quite fonds of fruits and was wondering if they can be counterproductive..

I like chicken but other than that I am not big on non veg food...what options do I have for protien and that too in 4 meals a day...eggs, oats, sprouts?
