Maybe it's your Bench Press Grip.
If you're using a close grip, you work Triceps more, a wider one works them less. If you're therefore adding more emphasis on the Triceps, you'll increase difficulty of the overall exercise, by fatiguing one of the synergists more.

I'm using home gym with a upright seated bench press with the handles of the bar at about shoulder height and hands out to the side of each shoulder.Boss Man wrote:Maybe it's your Bench Press Grip.

Today's workout:
5 mile treadmill run - timed 48:38
Last run before the 5 mile trail race Saturday! This will be first race since Feb. 08, so I am kinda nervous about it.
But excited to be back in shape and able to run it. I really feel like the HIIT training is going to pay off.
Tonights treadmill run was intervals of 6.3 mph and 7.3 mph. I am hoping the intervals are going to help me power up the hills and rest on the downhills in the trail race. I feel stronger overall than I have in a long time - even when i was running races a few years ago because of all the strength training and core work I have been doing.
So....I need some positive energy sent out way! Wish me luck!
Tomorrow will be a rest day!

1st place!! (in age group)

time was 53:12, which I was really happy with considering I was running up and down (seemed like mostly up!) rugged trails with roots and ditches, low branches and I got lost briefly - couldn't see where the trail went, there were so many leaves covering the ground! But I loved it! So much more than road running. It is definitely more challenging (HIIT paid off!) but SO much fun!

I put a few more pics on profile

Re: Work In Progress - FitoverForty
Thanks guys! It was beautiful weather...54 degrees and sunny
Had an interesting morning before the race....Got up at 5:15 a.m. to eat breakfast. Was making oatmeal - 1/2 cup oats, a little cinnamon, a few shakes of pepper....PEPPER!! EGAD!
I meant to put salt !! (I'm still asleep!). Anyway, I went ahead and cooked it, added one packet of Truvia, sat down bleary eyed at the computer to check the weather, etc. and started to eat.....O M Gosh!! Yikes!....well I'm awake NOW! It was spicy. I only managed to eat about half the bowl, then just grabbed a strawb. poptart and ate that.
hubby and son came out to cheer me on, son took the pics -
there's a few on profile.
And lastly...miracles really do still happen!!! husband had to leave to go to work before they gave out the awards
, but I called him later and told him I won first place, he told me he was really proud of me.
Then about an hour later he called me and said that he had just scheduled to be off on Dec. 5 (the next race) , I assumed it was so that he could go and support me...but no! He said that he wants to start training and running with me so that he (with son) can run the 1 mile fun run that morning, while I run the 5K! I can't tell you how much that meant to hear those words! I have always tried to "lead by example". Never trying to nag or beg anyone to work out with me, just hoping some of it would eventually "rub off". Well, hopefully that is now coming true.
It's been a dream of mine to run together as a family...can't think of anything else that would make me more proud and happy, so i'm pretty much on top of the world right now....can ya tell? LOL!
