Musings on a low fat diet

Post by Packard »

issue with Vegan diets (and vegatarianism in general) is that the human species was engineered to be omnivores. Our entire digestive system was designed to consume both meats (and fishes and poultry) and veggies.

So that begs this question:

If our digestive system was designed (for cavemen) to eat veggies and meat, you can be certain that trimming off the fat was not planned on. And certainly a nearly zero fat diet was not engineered into the system.

So what are the adverse effects of a very low fat diet over a long period of time?

Lesplease wrote:Yes but they also were not engineered to watch tv or sit at desks everyday. Our food availability is very different form what theirs was as well. Not only did they not have access to many foods year round, as we do (certain veggies, fruits etc), but they probably didn't have things like cheeze its either.
Yeah, Farley Mowat wrote about the diet of wolves and he found that they live almost exclusively on small rodents. They swallow them whole so that they get the contents of the rodent's stomach (and the veggies too).

Be that what it may, for those of us that do not get the MDR of Cheeze-itz, what are the ramifications of an extremely low fat diet even if all other dietary needs are met? Fat would have some lubricating value in the digestive system, I would imagine, at the very least. Some vitamins are fat soluble. Does the low fat diet interfere with the utilization of those vitamins?

According to the 2nd link I provided:

9. In the light of this latter observation, it cannot be assumed that the human subject could subsist indefinitely on a diet completely devoid of the unsaturated fatty acids.

I think that's from a 3 6 mafia song.

Change means something new; this is not new. It is an old record skipping back and playing the same line over and over again.

How about Lesplease in an evening gown, with spike heels and Wiggles (in place of the corsage).

I see something like this: Image
