Does anyone have any good substitutes for oil in a frying pan or wok?
I've read that you can use stuff like vegetable broth, bullion cubes, corn starch, and others for frying.
In general, I avoid:
butter
milk
eggs(4 egg yolks a week at most)
coconut milk
onions
cheese
mayonnaise
Basically, I avoid anything with lots of saturated fat and I really don't like onions. "Reduced fat" or "low fat" feels like cheating to me. So I avoid them as well.
Instead of frying with oil, I often just put oil directly on food.
I cook all meats in a frying pan with just non stick cooking spray. If you like to pour something over your meat, some non fat, low calories dressings might be good.
