The value of stretching before workout.
Today I went to work out, motivated before work. Before workout (Weight lifting) I usually heat up by jogging. 4 minutes into jogging when suddenly I put pressure on right leg and a sharp pain went to back muscle (right side around shoulder blade). I cannot turn head to right or even put it down. Sudden moves hurt muscle. I went to the emergency room thinking it was serious. Driving made me also hurt. Bad choice but didn't have no one else at the time to take me to see the doctor. The doctor had that it's probably a nerve in the muscle that make me have sharp pain. He gave me some medicine and a day off from work. Which it doesn't matter since I am in the military and is veterans day tomorrow but at other job I will loose one day. You probably saying why a second job, long story dough, but anyway the point is that it is very important to stretch before work out, you don't want to end up like me.

well before I start working out I usually warm up and thats what I was doing but then this happen.
Re: The value of stretching before workout.
that's just bad luck, nothing to do with what you did

Is it a muscle pull? Tendon tear? Tendonitis?
If you feel pain, then there are nerves involved. The doctor is not telling you much. You need to figure out what happened. The stretching is not a likely culprit.

I agree. I used to workout with some of the NY Jets when I lived on Long Island. Before training camp they were in terrific shape and their muscles were stretched out like a ballerina. But that did not seem to protect them at all from groin pulls, hamstring pulls or pulls in the abdomen or quadriceps.makhou wrote:"the point is that it is very important to stretch before work out, you don't want to end up like me."
There is absolutely zero evidence that stretching prevents injury!!!!
The fact is that much of the "knowledge" in weight lifting is nothing more that old wives tales.
