I'm down to last five to ten pounds, and I've hit a wall.

Post by aliciaxmarie »

I heard that if I changed diet and ate EXACTLY what I was told, it'd help.
Lately I haven't been following any kind of routine, and I swear I think I gained a pound or two this week because of it.
So what I wanted to know, since most of the remaining fat is in stomach, what diet should I be on to FINALLY get rid of those last 5 to 10 pounds?
It's been annoying me for the past two months and I've made no progress.
stats:

height: 4'10 1/2 (I'm short for someone who's almost 18.)
weight: Haven't checked it recently, but I'm assuming it's around 106.

goal weight is between 5 to 10 pounds less than that, because even at this weight, because of height, I still have a noticeably large amount of stomach fat.
Not even kidding, and even other girls height say they had to get around 95 to 100 pounds to look as fit as they did.
So, help please?

I've been running everyday for about and hour.
And two to three days a week I have weight training at school.
Any suggestions?

What does your diet look like? You said that you heard that if you changed your diet and ate exactly what you were told that you would lose weight.. who was giving you the diet advice?

Well, as of right now.
I have nothing to really go on.
Long complicated story, dad's in the hospital. Stepmom's with him for support, I stay home and go to school because I have to.
We don't really have any actual food right nowww, she's been there for almost a week now so we haven't had time to really buy things.
We went to checkers the other night, yuck. I seriously hate fast food, that was first time in almost a year of eating fast food.
Today I ate a bowl of cereal, and it's 8pm basically.
And that was it.
I'll have to go to the grocery store and buy some things.
But as of recently, there's no structure.
Cereal for breakfast, maybe a couple of fruits (tangerines, apples) and lately, just another bowl of cereal for dinner.
we have things I can cook:
(such as chicken, pork, etc.)
But I feel uncomfortable cooking for just myself.
I'll do it, but I don't know what to cook.

As for who I got the information from, a friend of mine, roughly the same height went to some doctor of hers, and he gave her an exact meal plan and such. It worked, she lost about eight pounds in a month or so. But even though she's the same height as me, she's roughly thirty pounds heavier. So maybe it's because I'm down to last five to ten that it's a bit harder on me? Or perhaps because I've been slacking lately when really, when you get towards those last few pounds, you're supposed to step it up a notch... thanks for taking the time to look through this.

Hi again,

Honestly I really don't believe that you have any weight to lose. However I do think it would be beneficial to get on a more stable/regular eating plan. If you're only having cereal and fruit for the whole day then you really need to eat more calories. Eating so few calories will really slow your metabolism (your body thinks your staving it so slows down metabolism in an effort to hold on to all fat/energy stores to survive)... we definitely want to keep your metabolism firing and you really need to fuel your body if you're going to be training. In opinion that weight training is kind of pointless if you're only living on a bowl or two of cereal each day.

How about something like this for a plan:

Meal 1: oatmeal, whole grain cereal or toast, eggs, fruit
Meal 2: low fat string cheese, nuts, fruit
Meal 3: whole grain lunch meat or tuna sandwich
Meal 4: nuts, veggies, a few slices of lunch meat
Meal 5: brown rice, whole wheat pasta, sweet potatoes, quinoa, or some other whole grain complex carb, protein (lean pork, lean beef, chicken, fish), veggies
Meal 6: low fat cottage cheese, peanut butter

This will ensure that your'e getting adequate amounts of protein, carbs, and healthy fats and will keep your energy levels and metabolism running high all day.

What do you think?

PS: I hope you dad gets better soon.

Awh, thanks so much. It means a lot.
dad is currently back home and healthy enough to still be a pain in the butt.
Haha ~
:')

And that sounds like a great idea, even one of art teachers said I needed more whole grains and wheats because she shares a thyroid problem like me and we talk about stuff like that.
lol
I'll be sure to follow this, I know what I have been eating isn't right, and I normally don't do it, but without any plans, I kind of fall apart.
So, thank you again.
As for the not needing to lose anymore weight, yeah I think you're right.
I weighed myself and I'm down to 102lbs.
I think I just need to start toning up the fat I have left in stomach area and make it muscle.

Good luck with your Dad, and no don't lose mroe weight. 102 is a near borderline problem area, and you could be looking to potentially in the future, aim for 115-120lbs instead.

This will come with time, patience and more physical development.

Just keep remembering you're worth it, and try not to be hard on yourself for little things. It's a learning curve and you ARE human, so be good to yourself and no worries yeah :).

I'm glad your dad is doing better!

Yes, I agree that focusing more on building some muscle is a great idea! Keep in mind you can't "tone up the fat"... you can build muscle though, which will help you to replace the fat with muscle.

You have a great attitude.. which is so important! Please keep us posted and ask questions if you have any.

Good job and good luck!

Cassie ;)
