Re: Lif's Journal
Definitely funny, but not the best zombie movie. Worth a watch if you have a few hours.
Re: Lif's Journal
i gotta see that movie
Re: Lif's Journal
Do it!
Four hour gun defense workshop today. Having issues with not being aggressive enough. Not the place to discuss this, but I just like to mention what I need to work on. I just need to work on discipline and toughening up.

Re: Lif's Journal
Sorry you can't discuss that issue. Sounds interesting. I'm sure you could be as tough as you wanted to really.
If you have issues with that, try doing something simple, like taking some boxing lessons a couple of times a week. Doesn't even have to be martial arts, just boxing, so you get a way of learning to bring out some aggression in yourself, but also how to control it, without having to commit necxessarily to some kind of belt based progression system.
Might be an idea.

Re: Lif's Journal
I agree. A lot of it is just changing perspective. One of issues with that is that I'm very stubborn about changing, which is definitely something I need to work on. I do like the boxing idea. school does offer boxing classes, which I'm going to try and fit into schedule. I just need to get out there, not hold back, and be consistent with training.
And as for discussing it in more detail, if anyone's interested in it, I'll discuss it. It's mostly a matter of the fact that I'm unsure if it completely fits in workout journal.

Re: Lif's Journal
I suddenly realised just now after waffling on about Boxing, you do Krav Maga, so you were already doing Martial Arts as well.
However Boxing can be good supplemental work as well, perhaps even K B as Nokie said. what you could call a cross fertilisation of skills, if you ever find time to train on your own, in that manner and try to blend a mixture of differing fighting movements.
As Nokie said, as long as you feel 100% comfortable talking about something we like to read. If anything you say helps us understand you more and respond a little better, it's better for you and us too and we can always take time to understand, empathise, and then try to reply in a way that's right for you

Re: Lif's Journal
Aww thanks Nokie and Boss! XD
I practically mauled someone today at the gym. The bags which are normally deserted were not so today. Some guy was showing his friend how to punch. Needless to say, I was that awkward person who was all "WOW DO YOU BOX AROUND HERE" It was stellar.
I decided I'm going to back off a bit on the weights, still doing the same routine but I'm not focusing as much on increasing weight and decreasing reps. I am, however, switching focus onto running. It's freezing outside, and I want to move as much as possible to get myself warm. And I'm going to try and fit in a boxing class and just make it out to Krav. It's unfortunate, but with classes I always end up with a meeting during krav class or an assignment I have to finish. I'm just trying to be as consistent as possible.
So workout now is basically the same:
MTThF Same weight routine - maintaining weight - adding another set - 10-15 reps
MWF Running
TThS Krav - but I don't always make it all three days
Then when I find the time, I'm going to add boxing in on Wednesdays, otherwise I'm just going to punch on own time with new gloves!
since last month I cut knuckles open on the bag. That was a bit embarrassing. I had white gloves too.
Nutrition-wise: I'll be honest. I've eaten pretty horribly this weekend. It was roommate's birthday. She had cupcakes. They were wonderful. And I've been strangely more hungry than usual. I bought baby broccoli and cooked it up with some bell peppers and added some ground turkey and almonds. Possibly favorite meal ever. Broccoli has been favorite food since I was like three and baby broccoli is incredible. I also picked up some tandoori spice to spice up chicken. It's also very very good. So, besides the cupcakes, I've mostly been eating grilled chicken, spinach, broccoli, and occasionally some turkey and eggplant and zucchini. I ran out of protein powder and decided I'm just not going to refill on that for a while. Hopefully, I'll be hitting up the grocery store sometime soon. I need rice.

Re: Lif's Journal
LoL… It’s ok… When I am amaze at someone… I stare big time!
As for your workout… WOW - Don’t over work yourself… It seems like you HAVE A LOT!!!
Once in awhile… a little punching on your own is not bad.
I do that all the time.. Do basic kicks and punches. It’s pretty fun!
As for your food… Eating stuff like cupcakes are ok ….just know your limits

Re: Lif's Journal
Finally back here to update!
One week without weights and I'm already ready to go back to them
So, I'm doing weights on the days that I don't run, but I'm switching it up every week just to keep myself interested. Here's what I'm doing.
M - Running 20-30 minutes
T - Upper Body
--DB Bench Press
--DB Flys
--Lat Pulldowns
--DB Rows
--Shoulder Press
--Lat Raise
--DB Curl
--Bench Dips
W - Running 20-30 minutes
Th - Lower Body and Abs
--Leg Press
-Leg Extension
-Lying Leg Curl
-DB Lunge
-Calf Raise
-Crunches
-Reverse Crunch
F - Running 20-30 minutes
S - Upper Body (same as Tuesday)
Su - Rest
Next week, I'll do two days of lower body and abs and one day of upper body and switch again the week after. I'm also doing Krav at least once a week. The workouts just aren't pushing as hard anymore, so I'm stepping it up outside of class to get in better shape. The running program is definitely making a difference. I just feel better. It's a relaxing form of exercise imo.
I've gained about five pounds since I got to school. I know some of it is muscle, but I would still rather see it go down. Mostly, I need to take diet a bit more seriously. I'll try to get on here more often to keep myself on track.

We'd like to see people like you more, because we like you, we like what you're doing and if we can help you, the more you come here, the more we can potentially help and support you
.
Keep pushing, don't be too hard on yourself and just keep being patient. It CAN and I'm sure WILL happen soon enough

Re: Lif's Journal
And all good things must come to an end...at least for a couple weeks. I have mono! And apparently contact sports are on the no no list of things you can do when you have mono. So, until after December, I'm not allowed to go to Krav. This is not a happy day.

Re: Lif's Journal
Awww I'm sorry to hear that!
I didn't know what was Mono until I looked it up...
I know how it feels when you can't do something you enjoy until you're well...
But it might be a good thing so you can have time to rest more... Relax and read a book!
I know you already know how its treated but I still wanted to post it.
How is it treated?
Usually only self-care is needed for mono.
Get plenty of rest. You may need bed rest, which could keep you away from school or work for a little while.
Gargle with salt water or use throat lozenges to soothe your sore throat.
Take acetaminophen (such as Tylenol) or ibuprofen (such as Advil) to reduce fever and relieve a sore throat and headaches.
Avoid contact sports and heavy lifting. Your spleen may be enlarged, and impact or straining could cause it to burst.
In severe cases, medicines called corticosteroids may be used to reduce swelling of the throat, tonsils, or spleen.
(I copied & Pasted this info)
Hope you feel better, eat healthy... and yes... REST!!!

Re: Lif's Journal
Yes I believe Mono can have serious, yet temporary respiratory problems.
Definitely may need to ease up on exercise.

Re: Lif's Journal
Bummer Lif! You must of kissed the wrong person!
Isn't that how they say you get Mono - probably an old wives tale...anyway, take care of yourself!
