New Body for December 2009!!

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
Today, Sunday I decided to take the day off. No workouts. I just wanted to chill & just clean & read. Last 2 weeks have been very craaazy! I got up late and for that reason I had "brunch" @ 12:00pm. I didn't know what to eat. So, I made myself a delicious smoothie w/strawberries, 1/2 banana & bits of pineapple w/ skim milk & lots of ice...triple YUMM! It kept me full. Then, we recieved some bad news that shocked all of us. oldest son's childhood friend past away. We were all in shock! It was a very tragic death and he was son's same age. He is devastated. No mood to cook moreless to eat. hubby ordered chineese, son's favorite, but didn't eat. I had a small bowl. 1/2 cup of pork fried rice w/ 4 spare rib tips & 1 cup of water. Haven't had anything else since. When i'm streesed out or sad I either don't eat or eat chocolate. Since I don't have any chocolate around I have been cracking open a small bag of sunflower seeds. The noise calms me down. I really hate to see kids go through pain or heartbreak
. Anyways, he'll get through it. I'll help him. Will hopefully start a new routine tomorrow & a new menu plan...will keep you guys posted.

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
Sorry to hear of the loss of your son's friend.
It is never easy to see our children in pain or hurting. We want to protect them from all the sadness and unfairness this world throws at us. Just be there for him with a shoulder for him to lean on, cry on or just to listen, the support and love you give him will get him through this tough time.

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
Sorry to hear that
I hope everything will get better!

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
I'm sure you will all that is needed to help him. I know from how you have been around here, he is lucky to have someone like you in his life
.

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
Thank you everyone for your kind words. Yesterday was an extremely sad, shocking day, but it gave family a glimpse of what I've been trying to show them: quality, gratefulness, humility & most importantly...love. They have always thought that whatever I've been through I have survived due to strenght. In many ways...yes. However, everytime I've been close to dying what gives me strenght is really love for them. They see the strenght because when I win a battle, I feel like I'm born again and feel grateful for one more day of life and it makes me feel like I have to enjoy life more, laugh more do more and now, they really know what I mean...they get it. Last night, oldest son said he was afraid of dying. I said: we all are, but we need to concentrate on living, but living our life to the fullest. Spending more time with the people you love, doing things & not being afraid and not letting a minute go by without saying I Love You! He said: That's why you always tell us even when your mad at us? I thought it was just to make us feel bad and guilty. Did it work? Yes! that's why when you punish me I don't complain. GOOD
! Anyways, at least I made him laugh... Well, let's move to a happier note
:
Bossman...thank you & welcome back! This morning, since I took the day off yesterday, I decided to be a little harder on myself. Need to concentrate on goals. Remember: 2 more months! So I woke up earlier than usual so that I can have a tougher workout, which means...SWEATING! This is what I did:
Workout: six mins abs video, Cassie's workout w/ 5lbs weight, HIIT & Circuit Training (OMG!! Anybody have an oxygen tank?)
Drank 1 bottle of water (THIRSTY!)
Breakfast: Strawberry smoothie (w/ 1/2 banana, skim milk & 1 packet of stevia), scrambled egg whites w/ 1 ham, mushrooms & tomatoes & 1/2 cheese. (NO BREAD
)
Snack: 2 teaspoon of peanut butter & 1 cup of water
Walked: 6,452 steps (did not take the bus
) I usually don't!
Lunch: Grilled chicken salad w/ lt. italian dressing & 1 cup of fresh lemonade (brought own stevia)
Dinner: Grilled salmon (3 oz) w/ 1 cup whole wheat pasta w/ grilled zucchini, tomatoes, mushrooms, little oregano, basil & garlic W/ 1 bottle of water (Delicious!) & side salad w/ 1 slice avocado & little olive oil.
Now: Planing to go to the park & walk at least 10,000 steps & do HIIT again. Will have a little snack: cottage cheese w/ pineapple & 1 bottle of water. Have to go....TA TA!

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
You mention you have survived a lot of things. Forgive me if I am asking something quite personal, but would you be willing to elaborate at all?
Of course I will totally respect a Ladies wishes, so whether you do or don't say anything, that's fine either way. I'm not trying to open any potential old wounds, or anything like that, I'm just interested to know about things that may have been.
You seem to be someone, that for all you may have experienced, has overcome things by embracing the positives in life, and using them to aid any emotional or mental recovery periods, that may have been needed in the past. This will have only served to make you stronger and teach your children a lot, and I think you can be proud of how you may have had to cope with cetain things before now
.
You certainly seem to be doing really well at the moment regards making these changes work for you. It's something you can be proud of, and clearly your children, have grown up knowing only the best that life can offer, in normal circumstances of course.
I hope things continue to get keep changing for the better for you.
I would suggest having something between Lunch and Dinner if possible, and look towards beefing up that snack, if possible, just because should the eating be a 4 times a day thing, you may not be in a good calorific state to accomodate exercise and lose weight the healthy way.
Apologies if I am missing the point somewhere along the line. I sometimes don't have time to read lots of stuff, so I may be incorrectly filling in some blanks.

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
Thank you Bossman for your kind words. I've been through hell and back. I'm still not out of the woods yet, but I'm trying to and I'm going to. I had meningitis (which left me with some neurological problems including vision & memory, etc.) I also had a few tumors on neck & cancer (which I rather not go into details...please forgive me
). I still have a small tumor left, but I've been advice not to operate yet (I agree) since I've been through a lot for the past few years. I'm still recovering(on remission), spirit has not been broken & still fighting like hell
! But goal to get stronger is not only because of journey (I went from 108lbs and not walking to 132 (now) and running at least for 10 minutes
) Huffing, puffing & about to faint...but done it
! It's more to get healthier & stronger to prevent, be prepared (just in case...) and also to look & feel good! I always tried. When I had to go for chemo, I felt extremely sick, but always wore a little lipstick, high heels, nice ski hats & dressed pretty cool. I had to look good...even when I was been pulled by a wheelchair & puking heart out. I had decided nothing was going to beat me down...well at least not looking bad
! Hey! I know I looked awful, felt like S*#?!, but that was attitude, still is. But this time I want to feel & look better (always room for improvement-mentally & physically! Right?!) I also want kids to learn to NEVER GIVE UP & TO BELIEVE ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!! Alright, now I'm sounding like Oprah
! But it is true.
Anyways, out with the old, in with the new ( youngest favorite phrase...). Today, oatmeal with skim milk, egg white & 1/2 banana. 1 cup of water.
Workout: 6 min abs video (twice)- nothing else cause feeling a little sick to stomach
Snack: 2 teaspoon peanutbutter & 1 cup of skim milk (to soothe stomach)
No lunch yet, but will see what I crave... Will keep you guys posted tonight. Very busy! Love to be doing something & needed

Wow… You’re such an inspirational for being such a strong person!
Your family are so lucky to have someone like you to teach them to see the best in life!
I admire your attitude and thank you for sharing!
By the way… did you do your abs workout after your breaky? Maybe that’s why you felt a little sicky?
Or did you let it go down 1st then worked on your abs?

Honestly, there is absolutely nothing to forgive at allnewmami wrote:(I rather not go into details...please forgive me

You showed so much strength and courage to post what you did, and you did something some do, where a situation that sounds quite heart-breaking, is expressed so beautifully. So out of maximum respect, I congratulate you whole-heartedly ,for having the strength to post what you did and congratulate you for the way you continued to push yourself, through such a difficult and emotionally challenging situation.
I really hope things continue to get more positive for you. You are one of those people like so many, that adds colour, personality and life to our community. To know that you chose us to share a journey with, seems to me to be quite a touching thing and I hope we can continue to be the sort of people, you deserve in your life right now.
You are DEFINITELY doing well at the moment, to try and push on with your lifestyle wants. I now completely believe, that having been so strong through such hard times, you can go on to make the physical wants of yours come good.
The mental and emotional aspects of a person, must be in symbiosis with the physical, in order for the physical to happen. There is no doubt you have that balance and the two key aspects of this in abundance, so I wish you all the luck in the world, and of course, if you ever need to brain dump, that's what moderators can be here for, so give me a PM, and whatever's on your mind we'll try and work through it

Finally, thank you for what you said. You have made me very proud to be sharing this site, with yet another fantastic individual and someone who is clearly very "human".
Keep going, good luck again and best wishes to you.

To BossMan, Nokie173, fitoverforty, Cassie, Bonnie, Lesplease & EVERYONE who reads & post on journal.....
I love this site because I feel like you guys truly care about goals. Your constant support, guide, positive energy and motivation makes me (and I bet many members of this site too) feel truly commited to do better and not let anyone down. Honestly, I think that's the real secret to been sucessful in reaching our goals. When I started writing on this forum goal was to post a food/exercise journal while trying to get a "new" Body by December (still is
), be toned & get stronger. I didn't expect to have people guiding me, offering advice and much less, supporting me like you guys have. IT IS AWESOME!! UNBELIEVABLE!! So far I have learned how to eat better, workout better and honestly, be a better person. You guys make me think about health 24/7, laugh and even feel guilty when I'm slacking a little bit-even cheating with food choices
. But I know you guys understand cause you've been there & done that & are willing to forgive & forget
. Therefore, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Ok, back to business. You are not going to believe who went with me to the park? hubby
! Yes! this time he walked around the track 1 time, ran 1/2 way and the other 1/2 he walked. He also went up and down the bleachers 3 times
. Did he just got into exercise routine?? Will it last?? I don't know for sure, but I bought the whey protein powder and after we got home he wanted to drink some. I told him he has to do weights in order to have the protein shake and guess what he said? He is going to start lifting weights...WHAT?! I say: See it to believe it. Anyways, I'm a firm believer that Miracles do happen
. Well, he insisted on the shake, so I made him one with strawberries & 1/2 banana (without protein) and he loooved it! Since he's in the "weight/bodybuilding mode" I should make him sign a comitment contract, that way I can have a weight lifting buddy
. After the wonderfull shake, we had dinner and watch TV. Since I posted breakfast & snack will continue with lunch:
Lunch: Had a mocha latte w/ skim milk (had an upset stomach-It was the banana. Can't eat it, but do it anyways) the latte soothes stomach! After mocha, I felt better, so I had a grilled chicken salad w/ very little olive oil & little vinegar & 1 bottle of water.
Snack: Cottage cheese w/ pineapple & 1 cup of water
Workout: Walked around the track 1 time & ran around the track 1 time ( hubby only did 1/2 & 1/2) & then we all played soccer for 45 minutes ( body is hurting!!)
Snack: Strawberry & 1/2 banana smoothie w/ lots of ice (Iced & YUMMY!!)
Dinner: 1/2 cup brown rice, 3 oz grilled chicken (seasoned w/ mrs. dash chicken flavor) & side salad(lettuce & tomatoes) & 1 bottle of water.
After watching our favorite spanish TV show, I decided to post entry & later will shower & go to sleep. Tomorrow is a new day! A good day
!

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
What makes this site so special is that we all have different backgrounds, live all across the world, face different challenges and situations, but we all come together here and uplift one another, support, encourage, share, laugh, cry and feel a kinship with others that becomes a bond. Regardless if we never "meet" face to face, I DO care about the goals and dreams and wishes that you have and geniunely hope you achieve them.
You have a unique ability to be "real" and it comes across in your words and phrasing. As the others said, it takes alot of courage and strength to share something painful and personal from our life, and I appreciate you doing that with so much grace and truthfullness. You have a beautiful spirit and a strength that I admire and respect. I have no doubt that the inner strength and "never quit" attitude you have has and will continue to be a healing force in your life.
And as for your husband....how could he sit by and NOT be swept up in your absolute tidal wave of enthusiam!
He is a lucky man!! I'm sure he is proud of you and wants to share the whole experience with you, right by your side. I am excited for you and enjoy the opportunity to read your journal. As I've said before, you have an energetic spirit that just bursts with joy and positivity, and I hope just a little of that can rub off on me!!!

I'm glad the site is helping you. We do care, and we do think of other people as human, not just faceless posters, because we feel some of what you feel.
It's good to see your hubby gertting involved with you. He is definitely a lucky man, to have you in his life and I'm sure everythign is going to work out for you. Whatever we can do, we certainly will.
Keep going and good luck

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
Lesplease...I did, didn't I? But that was a record I easily broke today
.
Today Wednesday, I got up and felt like having specialty omelette w/ 2 slices of white bread (I didn't have whole wheat) & 1/2 cup of d. pepsi...did I just break away from diet? After eating, I waited 1 hour and did cardio. pedometer showed I had burned 356 calories. I guess all that sweating was to burn 2 slices...unbelievable. But it felt good to jump around. I looked in the mirror and got a little discouraged. uggly is still hanging around (literally)
. I'm laughing, but it's not funny to me. Haven't seen any changes in that area. Therefore, I decided to change menu & workout plan and be a little more strict. I've been looking at different options in the "meal plan" at the fit tracker, but none appeal to me. I'm in serious need of some suggestions. Specially for snacks and lunch. I'm a little confused about the banana timing. Can I eat just 1/2 banana in the morning? Can I eat the other 1/2 @ night? How many servings of fruits am I allowed? Since I want to get rid of fat, are there any specific foods I should eat more or less? These are food goals:
Drink at least 8-10 cups of water /day.
Breakfast: Eat oatmeal w/ eggwhite 2x this week, eggwhite omelette specialty 2x, tuna fish once, Cream of wheat 2x
Snack: ???
Lunch: Turkey burger 2x, Tuna fish once, ???-should I have a salad or fruit? Both?
Snack: Cottage cheese w/ pineapple 2x, peanutbutter 2x (any combination?), ???????
Dinner: I have plenty of options here, but should I have salad, fruit, both????
Diet sodas: 2 cups /week (I'll try best!!)
Mocha lattes: 1 x week or none
Workout: Any suggestions for tighter abs??? How many repetitions? Weights?
I will be starting this new plan on Monday. Also, I'll be posting pictures on Friday. hubby said ok, but only , nothing else....Sorry
. I wanted you to see if there were any changes. I guess I need more convincing to do. Maybe a few extra loving or I know...his favorite meal along with a really good soccer match
. OOOOOH! before I forget, I bought the whey protein powder. I got vanilla & cookies & cream flavor. Why two? Because I got them on sale at GNC. They had a deal (buy one get one 50%) but the guy at the counter was very nice and gave me one free. I paid $15.00 + tax. Pretty good deal! We tried it and it tasted a little like medicine. So I added frozen strawberries and skim milk & it was much better. hubby decided to do weights with me today. I think he did it just to have some protein shake
. But at least he did it
. schedule was like this:
Breakfast: As I mentioned above but also 1/2 banana & 1 cup of water
Workout: Cardio mixed HIIT & circuit training & running
Snack: 2 teaspoon of peanut butter w/ 1 cup of water
Lunch: didn't know what to eat, so I had oatmeal w/ eggwhite, 1/2 banana
Dinner: 1 cup of brown rice, grilled pork chop w/ onions, red peppers, tomatoes & zucchini & side salad w/ 1 slice avocado & 1 bottle of water
Snack: cottage cheese w/ pineapple (boring)
Workout: arms, biceps, triceps, squats, back & shoulders w/ 5lbs weights
Snack: protein shake w/ frozen strawberries (pretty good-getting used to the medicine taste)
I know tomorrow will be different. No more white bread, less d. pepsi, more water & hopefully...a flatter stomach!
Hey!, There is nothing wrong with dreaming!?!

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
How about lower your carbs intake a bit. Try to have your carbs for your first meal and your post workout. The rest have carbs from fruits and veggies. Stack up on proteins & fats maybe… Good fats (nuts, avocados, low fat cheese, olives, and olive oil, etc...) Of course… not too low and maybe every 2 days… have a regular carb day then go back to lowering it again then up it again (kinda shock your body) That’s just an idea… see how that work…
As for workout… If you can, try to increase your weights? Like.. one day make it heavy with less reps and the next weight day… make it less heavy with more reps… see how you like that? Add some lunges, dead lifts, push ups, pull ups, rows in to your workout. Those are some ideas… Let me know if you have any questions. I’m sure others will have more ideas for you!
You tried so hard so don’t give up and it takes time! The tummy and stupid under arms are soooo hard to get rid of… but with good/very strict diet and nice workout plan, you will definitely get to your goals… If you have time…(Look at Cassie’s pictures!!!) That’s motivation!
Keep up it girl... you're doing GREAT

Re: New Body for December 2009!!
Nokie173...When you say carbs, do you mean bread, pasta & potatoes? Whole wheat? I'm a little afraid of carbs. But I'll do it. I'm also struggling with protein cause I don't know which kind of red meat should I buy. I have chicken breast, eggwhites, protein powder, etc. I bought pork chops & ribs (didn't know if that was ok). Any suggestions? As for the exercise plan, I was thinking about more reps too.
Today Thursday:
Breakfast: eggwhite omelette specialty W/ 1/2 strawberry protein shake & 1 cup of water.
Workout: squats, arms, biceps, triceps, shoulders, back & butt lifts w/ 5lbs weights
Snack: 1/2 strawberry protein shake & 1 cup of water
Lunch: Grilled chicken sandwich w/ lettuce & tomatoes & 1/2 d. pepsi & 1 bottle of water
Snack: Mocha latte w/ skim milk & 1/2 cup of protein powder (OMG! YUMM, YUMM Give Me Some!) It was HEAVENLY! I know I shouldn't be having mochas, I said I was going to reduce or stop drinking them completely...next week
. But is it ok to mix the protein powder w/ mochas? WoW! best way to drink it! It hides the taste & makes the mocha taste 200% better! (let me stop drooling
)
Dinner: Tuna Fish in water w/ 1 teaspoon light mayo & salad & 1 bottle of water.
Workout: Ran 12 minutes & circuit training (Sweating like a pig
)
Snack: 1/2 strawberry protein shake. Too many protein shakes?
Anyways, I can wait to start a new meal & exercise plan. Very nervous & excited
. Will see how it goes. Also, tomorrow, will be posting the pictures of
. Please be kind
. Very embarrasing to share
. But will do so anyways.
