Rest how much do i need inbetween workouts?
Hello and thanks for taking time to read through this post =)
I am 6'0" 160 pounds i weighed 195 back in June and have been focusing alot on cardio and very little on strength training due to the fact the last time i did any was over 4 years ago in high school.
I have never really liked lifting weights they just arent thing and for the past 3 weeks i have been doin a certain work out with pushups crunches ect.
I am noticeing some changes but i want to maximize the effectiveness of workouts so that i build muscle effectively and in a healthy way, from what ive researched in the interwebs rest is very crutial to strenght training and im not sure if i am enough rest but at the same time all i wanna do is work out lol
Heres a list of work out ethic on a normal day: ( diet is fairly well under conrtol due to this site, i eat 2500+ calories and eat every 3 hours.)
Wakeup at 6am
*30 seconds of rest between each different exercise for the morning workout.
And i do in the future plan on increasing the amount of reps per exercise but this is what i am at currently
Morning Workout
-I do jumping jacks and high knees to warm up
-Stretch
-Do a series of pushups with 10sec rest between sets (5 - 10 - 15 - 10 - 5)
-Squats 3 sets of 20 30 secs rest between sets
-Lunges 3 sets of 20 30 secs rest between sets, 10 each leg
-Crunches 3 sets of 20 30 secs rest between sets
-Front planks 3 sets as long as i can hold
-Stretch
After second meal around 9am i do some cardio either run or bike somedays more than others but i make sure i feel the burn before i stop.
Eat again at noon
This is main rest time between here and 3 pm
Between 3pm and 6pm i try to play some sport, i'd say about 3 times a week i.e. basketball tennis soccer.
Thats a break down of workout and i do this 7 days a week minus the playing of a sport where the amount i play varies.
I want functional not bulky muscles
Is it too much?? Can i do more and still gain strength effectively??
**If anyone can help me maximize the benefits of this workout to get the best strength training results possible i would greatly apppreciate it**
Thanks again for you time and i am looking forward to see what ideals people have to make this work better!!

Wow pretty intense workout schedule ya got there and alot of variety and muscle grouping i guess you would call it.
I think i need to change workout a bit also cause i do the same workout with the same series of muscles (or fullbody) everyday...
You get alot of your rest just by resting muscle groups which i know is normal i just wanna work it all and get back in shape asap but that may be counter productive.
Ill switch up a couple things and i just bought a good jump rope today gonna get more work in on calves.
And on a different note getting people to actually show up to get dunked on is a hard thing to do lol
basketball buddies suck i ususally end up playing some tennis down at the tennis courts for a couple hours.

Lesplease wrote:Full body is the best way to start. 3x/wk should be more than plenty. Splits aren't really any good unless you are trying to do something specific, like get freakishly large lats. (:
Stick with the FB for at least 2 months. At this point, you aren't going to be doing anything heavy enough to really tire yourself out. I really think FB is the way to go.
Also, I finished up dissections last night and didn't do legs. I did them this morning instead. Now I need a nap!
Leg dissection:

Plenty to choose from.
Re: Rest how much do i need inbetween workouts?
what will you do now?
Re: Rest how much do i need inbetween workouts?
Cardio Conga Drum playing. Excellent upperbody cardio (a viable alternative to speed bag work), and very entertaining.Lesplease wrote:Upper/Lower 4 days, jump day in the middle (or basketball, but probably jump), the two off days will be basketball, god willing. And of course, I will continue unicycling and hula hoopin'. I've had to rearrange cardio slightly as well, but I can keep 2 HIITs at least, possibly three. Just gonna have to see how I feel. (Jump day is a HIIT though, so that is fortunate)
(Did you ever see a fat Conga Drummer?

Bongo drums are the fairy version of Conga drums. Standing naked with a bongo drum, Mathew C. could be photographed and no require any blurring to be shown on Entertainment Tonight.Lesplease wrote:http://www.thesmokinggun.com/mugshots/m ... ymug1.html
To do the same some of us would require the conga drums (I'm not saying who would require the conga drums, but certainly not the steroid users).

Darling, I'm just about to casually oggle a filmstar, is that okay with you?
Answer yes to receive a treat later on.
Answer no, to receive no treats of any kind for 2 whole months.
