Measure your waist at the narrowest point.
canbe very misleading measuring there..

1 - it's your thinnest point so you'll probably hardly ever lose anything there

2 - if you do lose there, what if you haven't lost from your widest point?

we measure at the button and/or widest point

I measure at widest point as well... about an inch below the button. :)

I stand corrected! Wow, all life I thought you measured at the narrowest point! thank you for the insight. So if you measure just below the button for the waist, then where exactly do you measure for the hips? (I'm afraid of this answer...) :?

Hi guys! journal schedule has been a little off. I have been jumping around like a sprayed roach  . Disgusting, but true! I'll do daily entry tonight, but I had to write about two major accomplishments (it may be stupid, but to me is great!) I got family eating salad (specially youngest). I made it with spinach, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, corn & lt. italian (just a drizzle to cover the spinach taste) and they liked it! AND get this: hubby (who's only exercise is to play soccer :( ) told me he will do walking routine w/ me (3 x per week) starting next week  . Hey, I know he's doing it beacuse it was recommended by his ortho. (he had a calf injury) but it sounds very good to me :D . ( walking buddy abandoned me after her lipo :( ) and it has been hard to go to the park by myself. Honestly, I hope he doesn't leave me hanging.

Unless he has a sound medical reason not to participate, I'm sure he loves you a lot, and will do this, to yet again prove that love and commitment.

You are doing some really good things, to help yourself and your family, so you CAN be proud of yourself for all those little things. and you ARE becoming a good rolemodel also, by not just helping others, but helping yourself too.

If your family unit is as strong, and sturdy as I think it probably is, you will have no worries, because you will have the co-operation and support of others that care about you, and whom you care about as well.

So don't look for any negatives here, when you have many positives. There's no point hurting your progress, with niggling doubts and what if's. Just keep doing what you're doing, and I'm sure you will get what you want out of this, for you and the family soon enough.

Trust your head and heart on this. It's all good yeah :).

no more fast food!--whole foods only and drink water only. Make a big salad with avocado's, tomatoes, beets, beans, tuna, grilled chicken, salmon red onions, olives, etc...:)

Ok, I duno how this is dealt with, this need for some ppl to emphasize body parts, to me that r unrelated to the purpose of the site.So this site is about fitness, nutrition, weights, cardio, well being of almost every aspect ?..Though I fail to see where a persons genitals play a role.I've been to bubblebutts page once & was offended by his exhibitionism & reported his exposed images, to me they r bording or pornographic & in extremely bad taste, for a fitness site.Would be appreciated if u used a face image for your avatar at least, which I cant very well avoid seeing. On the flip side is great ur hubby is going to join u in ur fitness quest & kudos on introducing ur family to salad !! Keep up the good w ork :D

WEIGH IN DAY!! On 9/9 (started) I was 139lbs., on 9/11 (last weight) 137lbs. Today, drum roll please....135lbs!!! I'm very happy. I know it might be getting rid of excess water (read on prevention magazine) but I like it and I take it :D ) Thanks for the encouragement, It's very well apperciated. It's been 9 days since I've started journey and I can truly say It's a rollercoaster ride. Your nervous and excited to get in and once you do it starts pretty rocky, then it gets smoothly, but by the time your getting used to it...an unexpected turn shakes you up and makes you second guess yourself. What am I doing it? Am I doing it right? Is it worth it? Should I quit?... and then...it gets back on track, you look back and kinda feel proud of holding on. The hardest part so far has been the exercise. walking routine has been shorter due to weather (cold) and no longer a walking buddy. visits to the park have been boring and lonely. But I'm hanging on. To give it that umph needed, I changed playlist. I start with "Walking Away" by Craig David and followed by "I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eye Peas, it gets me PUMPED! NEW FOOD: Farina Creamy Hot Wheat Cereal...YUMM! youngest son called mom (he does every night) and somehow Farina came up. I used to make it for him when he was 3-4 but he stopped eating it. I never ate it..I know it sounds crazy but I was very busy at the time for a proper meal (kids, cooking, full time job, went back to school, etc.) He asked his dad for a box and he bought it. I prepared it and we looooved it! It has become our "new" comfort food. I haven't tried the oatmeal...i'm scared  Don't laugh, it just that it looks like bird food  . But like I said: Willing to try new things and improve eating/cooking habits. Anyways, I have changed a few things so far. 1-2 cups of d. soda/day, 1 chocolate (small bar/ week) , 5-6 cups a day :D and added avocado, spinach, mushrooms, nuts, olive oil and more fruits, lettuce & tomatoes to meals. I think I'm doing pretty good. Exercises: added Cassie's workout, Jillians' video & NEW EXERCISE: Kim Kardashian's abs video. Honestly, I can't feel the workout in abs, but the part she works the arms & abs (WOW! I feel the burn) I rewind it 3 times & repeat that whole section. I will post measurements tonight, and every month on the 18th. I will weigh myself every two weeks. I was thinking about posting a picture of "ugly " (sounds like the series on TV  ) but had reservations..I need to consult with husband. It'll just be . You see, nobody has seen naked besides husband. Well, I lie... doctor, gynecologist & oncologist, but they are all women :D I feel kinda embarrased  /nervous/shy/funny  & weird. But I want to see own transformation and I want to share it with you all. So, after I talk with hubby, I'll give it a little thought, OK? Will see if I get the courage.
Yesterday 9/17
Brkfast: scrambled egg specialty w/ 1/2 cup d. pepsi, 1 cup watermelon & 1 cup of water
Snack: 5 strawberries w/ teaspoon of peanut butter & 1 cup of water
Lunch: Tuna sandwich (100% whole wheat & lt. Mayo) w 1 cup of d. pepsi , 10 grapes & 1 cup of water
Snack: 1 cup of watermelon ( favorite) & 1 cup of water
Dinner: salad specialty: Lettuce, tomatoes, spinach, 3 tablespoon of brown rice, canellini beans w/ sauce (when cooked I add spices & garlic), avocado & 1/2 chicken hot dog (grilled in George Foreman) w/ 2 cups of water & 10 grapes
Snack: 1/2 oreo klondike ice cream bar  Sorry, I know...but I had to have it sooo bad. with 1 cup of water.
EXERCISES: Cassie's workout, walking routine & Kim Kardashian's abs video. I also cleaned bathroom & kitchen(it has to count as a workout  )
Today 9/18 so far:
1 cup Farina w/ skim milk & splenda. (felt very full)
1 cup of water
handful of peanuts, raisins & almonds, 1 pruned (made me run to the bathroom) & cup of water
I did Cassie's workout & 100 jumping jack, 60 butt kicks (jumping) and 30 side to side puches
Well, I have to go...Will write later tonight (hopefully!) Wish me luck!

Woohoo yes is great to see such energy :D..I've kept pics, until I've transformed, to make sure it can be done, lol before I post pics ;) I used to be ashamed of mine, but now I see them only as a challenge.Well ur diet looks tastier than mine for sure, though how does anyone drink pepsi for breakfast ??? Reminds me of Lynn with her diet coke addiction, when she came here :D Not sure if u r aware of this, but that amount of fruit, could possibly converted from the fructose ( sugar ) to fat & store itself up in ur body. I went from 6 - 8 servings of fruit a day to only 2.. after cassie mentioned abt the possible effects.Congrats on ur weight loss & keep up the great job !!

Thank you fitoverforty & nelson712 and everyone who read and post comments on journal for your positive vibes :D. It keeps me motivated to do better and continue with journey. Bonnie: you have just solved mystery problem! Since last entry, I've been feeling a little dizzy and maybe is the watermelon. I've been eating too much of it...thanks! Anyways, I said I was going to post "old" measurements taken on 9/9/08 and here they are:
weight: 139lbs
Biceps: 11 inches
Waist: 34 inches
Butt: 35.8 inches
Chest: 36.9 inches
Thigh: 19.5 inches

On 9/18
Weight: 135lbs :D
Biceps: 12 inches
Waist: 33.5 inches
Butt: 37 (AWESOME! )
Chest: 36.7 inches
Thigh: 20 inches

As you can see, I'm trying best. However, main problem (the ) hasn't changed a bit :( . NEXT CHALLENGE: to loose 2 lbs for the next weigh in in two weeks (don't want to be too thin, I like curves :D ), to plan meals for the entire week. That was an AHA! moment I had when I didn't know how to modify the fried chicken family was asking for last night. I had to do it (It's one of their favorites...but at least I used olive oil, herbs & garlic as spices  ) If I plan ahead, I'll be able to make our favorite dishes healthier, that looks & taste similar (need to trick them  ) and delicious! Also, to plan workouts. ANY SUGGESTIONS?? I don't know how many times per week should I do cardio, strenght & abs. Which abs/core exercises should i do? Remember: goal is to have a healthier & toned body and FLAT ABS!! I know is going to be extremely hard since I only have 3 more months to go. I am also aware that It won't be as flat as I want it :( , but I'm READY for this challenge!!! So, BRING IT ON!! :D

okay your doing everything right thats good it depends are you up for it to lose a 1 pound a week you gotta burn 3500 so that means everyday you gotta lose about 500 calories, so i would suggest doing cardio everyday for about 20-30 minutes but what do you do cardio on??? for the abs do them about 2 times every week, the abs are like any other muscle they need there rest, try this http://exercise.about.com/od/abs/ss/abexercises.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I cheated and I don't feel guilty! Ok, let me explain. Yesterday, 9/19 (family day for us), I started the day with a holy breakfast (Farina cream of wheat) why holy? cause every time I eat it makes stomach feel good & full...and that's a miracle to me! Anyways, I wasn't hungry afterwards, until we went out. I ordered  pizza burger, french fries & d. pepsi. I know...I was thinking about the weight I lost and trust me, it made me nervous, but I enjoyed it...It was delicious!!! I only ate 10 french fries & drank just 1/2 cup soda  . After we were done...another shocker! Instead of the movies, kids wanted to go to the park and play soccer (it was nice & sunny) and so we did. YES! I walked, walked and walked until feet were numb (i had high heels boots on  ) I'm pretty sure I burned those calories off. We went home, shower & watched TV. Did not eat anything else...wasn't hungry  UNBELIEVABLE! Is that normal? Even family was shocked. This morning, I had a simple egg white omelette (1/2 Dak ham & 1/2 cheese) w/ 100% whole wheat bread & 1/2 cup of d. pepsi & 1 cup of water. As a snack: 20 Quenepas (spanish fruit) & haven't eaten anything else  For some reason, not hungry. I was wrote exercise plan. I did it based on your suggestions, workouts, videos on shape fit & you tube and also keeping in main goal...to firm up Uggly  and it looks like this:
MONDAY: in the morning: cardio (intervals between brisk & fast) & at night: Abs (6 minutes abs in a couch video I found on you tube) it looks hard, but I'm willing to try!
TUESDAY: in the morning: Cassie's workout & at night: Cardio: 4 min brisk walk-1 min jumping jacks, 4 min walk- 1 min butt kicks, 4 min walk- 1 min jump rope (repeat once more)
WEDNESDAY: in the morning: Cardio (jillian's video-30 day shred) @ night: (6 minutes abs in couch video x 3)
THURSDAY: OFF- I have Drs. appt (but I'll walk from home to appt. about 1 mile?)
FRIDAY: Same as tuesday, but will try to do some bike riding
This is the exercise plan I have. I'll try to to more and hopefully I'll see some changes on .So please ...cross your fingers :D !
