Interview at a Gym

Post by elopez77 »

Hello to all....I'm so excited that I have stumbled upon this site. I recently joined for several reasons. Of course the normal: get tips on workouts, help on building more mass and meeting new people who love being healthy like me. I also joined because I'm in a middle of a career change; I'm studying to become a personal trainer. I'm terrified because I won't be making as much money as I was in "office" job, but I wasn't happy just sitting and staring at the computer. I know in the long run I will make just as much money if not more. I want to do what I love and that is help others become the healthiest that they can be.

I had a interview to work in a gym and I go back on Monday for a second interview with the gym's owner. first interview I dressed nice but casual (no business attire), should I dress more business like the second time or should I still go casual. I really want this job and it will give me more experience under belt.

I'm nervous and exicted all at once. I will let you all know if I get the job or not. Wish me luck :D

Welcome to the site :).

Why not just go a little business like, (excuse ignorance of Ladies Fashion), you know something like an Ankle Boot, pin stripe trouser suit, kind of thing, or something like that.

You might need to dress casual for work, but really nobody is going to say that person would have gotten the job, if they'd bothered to turn up casual, because frankly dressing smart was just lazy .

GOOD LUCK with the job, and if you want to do this I'm sure yuou will be able to. Whatever we as a community can do to support, encourage and help you, we will do that :).

Hey girl! Welcome to the site!!!

I would dress nice, but not too dressy. You can never go wrong with simple black or khaki pants, a nice top, and nice shoes... I don't think I would necessarily do heels.. but wouldn't do sandles or flip flops either. Just something simple but still business like. When I don't know what to wear I go somewhere in the middle... going too casual could definitely cost you, and going overly dressy seems kind on unnecessary being that this is your second interview.

With that said.. Girl i am SO stinking jealous of you! I currently have an office job (insurance agent) and am a spinning instructor on the side. I've been wanting to get certified as a personal trainer since I was 18.. even have all the study materials... however after 7 years of college (just recently graduated) I'm having a really hard time finding the motivation to get certified. I wish you the BEST OF LUCK with your interview! I totally know what you mean about wanting to help people become the healthiest they can be. After all... improving health can honestly change every aspect of a persons life!

Please keep us posted on your interview! Let us know if you get that job! :)

Thank you both for the great tips!!!! I went more business than casual just to play it safe. I'm going back for a 3rd interview on Thursday. The interview will consist of working out with the owner and the facilities manager. Still keeping fingers crossed and wishing that they offer me a job on Thursday. Wish me luck and again thanks for the support and advice.

I don't know. Knee high boots for Squatting. Could be workable

Though possibly a minor issue on Treadmills.

GOOD LUCK, I'm sure you'll be fine. You seem like someone would be a great asset to any employers like that. Whatever happens, I hope you will continue to post here for the forseeable future. Anyone like you with a Warm Heart, community spirited and a good intellect and social skills, is a big benefit for us all :).

Meh, your choice

I hope you don't, but if you do, don't forget to leave your key in the hallway :P Then some new person can have it. Saves a bit of money, not having to get a new one cut.

WELL DONE. If you're anything like the sort of person, you are proving to be here, which I don't doubt you are, you will be a very, very positive influence on quite a few peoples lives, and you will be doing things for others, you can be very proud of.

Do please keep stopping by to mingle with us sometimes, as we'd definitely like to have you around, adding something positive to the community feel, and being a potential rolemodel and source of comfort and support to others.

GOOD LUCK with the new job. I don't doubt they have hired a very good employee, and I am sure you will do a great job.

:)

P.S. I read, you're in planning / development stages for a figure comp. One of our members Boopster has done one, and Cassie is about to do one, so if you need general support, assistance and especially first hand advice about what to expect, we can certainly do what we feel is our best for you.

I'm sure if you really wanted this, you could become a great athlete :).
