th reason classes aren't great...too much volume of the the same baisc thing...give them away...do plenty of lunges on your wt training days instead to biuld up strength in your legs

you know i questioned some things in those classes you just confirmed it for me, :) excellent, thanks do you think its wise or okay to resume jogging and cardio? as i stopped due to the pain, i can see what you mean about too many classes upon reflection there were quite a few things that could have caused the injury. i dont need a knee support or anything?

running is the same repetitive movement and will only aggravte it, do bodyweight circuits with no rest (lunges, push ups, inverted rows, planks etc)

I would definitely ask your doctor that on Wed. as some knee injuries can be made worse with any kind of compressing knee brace.
Be careful with the lunges too, until you find out what is causing your knee pain. If it hurts then STOP immediately. You might try icing the knee to help with any swelling. Knee injuries can also arise from lower back and hip problems.
The link below has some info on knee injuries.

Good luck with it, hope it gets better soon! :D

One of the issues with shadow boxing (or kicking) is that you are throwing your punches (or kicks) into the air and not actually striking anything. So the joint absorbs all the impact of the full extensions, and in effect you are hyper-extending the joint (elbow or knee) with each punch or kick.

The cumulative effect is soreness in the joint; keep at it and it will become chronic.

The expert practitioners have learned to "pull" their punches just short of impact and this lessens the likelihood of injury.

If you like the workouts, then try kicking a heavy bag and punching a speed bag. These are less likely to cause injury.

1 - the knees are at the mercy of the hips

and

2 - treat the problem not the symptom

1 - a lack of hip mobility, which is a joint that is meant to have mobility, results in movement occuring at the knees, a joint requiring stability (no movement)...couple that with a chicks hips/ q angle resulting in knees rubbing together when you run etc is a knee ijury waiting to happen

2 - now that we know some of the problems (lack of hip mobility, glute activation as well as ankle mobility contributing too) we can treat the them, not the problem (pain during lunges)...lunges aren't the problem here
